Anthony “It was an interesting stay.”
The photos definitely make the place look better than what it is, but content of the property is accurate. We had rung the Friday to book the property for the Friday night as well as it had been empty 3 days previous as well (we'd been umming and ahhing over the extra night). Unfortunately the Akaroa Manager said no as the property would not be ready in time even though we weren't going to get there until after 7pm that night. The property was reasonably dusty when we arrived and whilst there was fire starts and wood there was nothing to light the fire with. Some of the light bulbs were out and the bulb in the master bedroom was very dim. The TV remote (for the satellite dish) didn't work but could check/change batteries as the battery cover was cardboard and alot of stick tape. water pressure was a little poor in the shower but it was ok for a couple of days. Unfortunately the road works that started very early in the morning kind of ruined it entirely for us (its not a holiday if you are up early) and the rubbish truck coming around and being extra noisy at 5.15am wasn't brilliant either. Overall it was an ok stay but for the price I would have expected more and have had more for cheaper in Akaroa. Would stay again but only if price was cheaper.
We appreciate your feedback, Anthony. We are sorry to hear about the disruptions caused by the road workers and the rubbish truck during your stay, and we apologise for not being able to accommodate your extension request. Our local team and owner are working on rectifying any confusion with the lights at the property by labelling each light switch to indicate which switch controls which light. For the safety of children, the lighters are stored on top of the fridge, and this information has been noted on the wood basket as well. We will also ensure that new batteries are installed in the TV remote. We have also taken note of your cleaning concerns and have addressed them with our team. Please understand that excess dust can be a result of the wood burner during this time of the year. Once again, we appreciate your feedback and thank you for taking the time to share your experience with us. Bachcare
