Rangipawa “Great house.”
Perfect for group of friends to enjoy catching up.
Perfect for group of friends to enjoy catching up.
- Rangipawa, October 2023 -
Jeffrey “It's a nice house, hence the rating, but I agree with all of the issues encountered by your previous guests which have clearly not been addressed.”
The website should also make it clear that the 'bathroom' on level 1 is actually a 'wet room' in a screened off corner of the laundry. The lack of a garage remote was very annoying and I think a house of this standard could do with a few more pantry provisions and milk in the fridge to enable a cup of tea on arrival.
- Jeffrey, February 2023Viv “Hello We rented the above property for our family of 7 (including our 3 month old grandson) to stay at for a wedding in Akaroa over Waitaingi weekend 2023 Our rental started on Thursday the 2nd of February and went through to Monday the 6th of February.”
While the property was beautiful we found several issues with it resulting in us making the decision to leave the property a day earlier than our booking. We had to stay for the wedding on the 4th otherwise we would have left after the first night. In no particular order we found the following issues with the property: The air conditioning unit for the property is totally inadequate for the size of the property and the amount of glass in the upstairs room. The unit did not have enough output to cool even the lounge area and the kitchen let alone any of the bedrooms. We were in Akaroa in a particularly hot period with temperatures getting to 33 degrees in the day and not falling below 20 degrees at night so having air conditioning was a must. Your property is advertised as having air conditioning and as such we believe that it should be up to the task of cooling the whole property - if not then this should be noted on the listing - ie that the air conditioning is suitable for the kitchen area only. There was one fan for the whole second floor sleeping areas. Again totally unacceptable for a property of this size being rented out in the summer months. The door handle into the main kitchen living areas from the stairwell sticks as if locked and is extremely hard to open. We thought at first that it had locked. We had to keep this door shut in an attempt to allow the air conditioning to cool the living area. This sticking door handle was extremely upsetting to our daughter who initially believed the door was locked with us all in the living area with her baby asleep ion the second level. This needs to be fixed for future rentals. There was no gas in the BBQ on the top deck which meant that we were unable to BBQ all weekend and had to use the oven which added to the overall heat in the living area. The dishwasher doesn't appear to be working properly. The tablets provided did not disolve in the cycle and as a result the dishes were coated with the grainy powder of the tablet. We had to hand wash dishes The door handle into the garage and laundry area is broken and falls off in to your hands when you turn if. It can operate if you push it back on but this is something that needs to be repaired I would appreciated a response to this feedback please. We were very much looking forward to a lovely family holiday in what looked to be the perfect property for our family. The rental wasn't cheap and we feel that given the cost we should have expected the property to be first rate. It wasn't. Regards Viv Coughlan
- Viv, February 2023Hi Viv. Thank you for reviewing your recent stay. We sincerely apologise for the issues you faced while in stay, causing you to conclude your booking early. With regards to the cooling of the property, this has been raised with the owner who is now organising additional fans for the rooms in the property that do not currently have air conditioning. We have also passed on the feedback regarding the door handles, BBQ gas supply and the dishwasher. These issues are currently being discussed within our teams to improve the experience for any future guests. To hear that our guests decided to leave their booking early due to the negative experience they have had is truely disconcerting. We will reach out to you privately to discuss a resolution. Bachcare

Great space , lotsa rooms and beds and excellent for entertaining, fully equipped kitchen with lotsa platters and everything we needed to indulge ourselves over the weekend
- Olivia, September 2022Duncan “We arrived and being older had trouble with the TV remote as it was not connecting properly, phoned twice once got told we would get a call back, then no call so called again and got our daughter to email and still no reply all weekend.”
Watched TV1 with subtitles all weekend and no volume . Just the lack of care with no reply was not appreciated when paying that much for a nice birthday weekend .
- Duncan, July 2022Hi Duncan, Thank you for your feedback and we are so sorry to hear about the poor experience with the TV. We have not had this occur before at the property. We have been in touch directly to discuss this directly with you and hope to see you again at this stunning property. Bachcare

We would definitely stay here again!
- Karli, April 2022Andrea “We had a great stay!”
Lovely home for families or large groups to enjoy. Beautiful views and a well presented home. Within easy walk to shops, restaurants and the beach, although the hills are big to walk back up! We loved entertaining here, but just note the only bathroom on the entertaining level is the master bedroom ensuite! We would definitely rent again :)

So much room and set out in a perfect configuration. There are so many thoughtful details which make the house comfortable and luxurious. It is set in a beautiful location with many native birds to be heard and seen. The kitchen is well stocked and has everything you could possibly need. The beds were comfortable and warm, and the bathrooms were huge and well appointed. We ( 6 adults) had a fantastic stay and definitely recommend this beautiful home.
