Bit of an issue with ants in the kitchen, and the oven didn't work which was a massive pain as I had prepared a pie to cook. Clay at Bachcare was lovely but couldn't get hold of property manager or owner for assistance. No instructions in manual and we tried everything!! Will likely stick with Air bnb in future.

Your comment on the ants has been discussed with our local team who have now addressed this at the property. We have described your experience of the oven with the property owner who has shared some instructions for our future reference as well as successfully testing the function on a recent visit. This oven operates on a clock function, meaning the start timer needs to line up with the clock displayed in the middle. Our best advice would be to not touch the dials at the top of the oven and rather adjust the start dial to the current time of day. Bachcare

Be aware of ants in the kitchen. Do not leave unsealed packages of food there. We had to throw away a lot. On a different topic, nothing about the property: Dealing with bachcare was a nightmare. Took about 1/2 year and many emails till they finally managed to turn a gift voucher into actual booking.

We found it very relaxing and tranquil, and loved the bird life! Beds super comfy, amazing view, and great to have the use of the kayaks. The kids loved it too and spent lots of time exploring in the back yard!!! Akaroa was only a few minutes drive for a top up of food. We will definitely be back.

The house has spectacular views, comfy beds and lovely linen. The kitchen is really well equipped - we had Christmas there and found it had everything we needed. Wonderful bird life all around, with an impressive dawn chorus.

Entertainment area has a pool table, a bookshelf, dart board and one kayak. Heater in the lounge easily heats the whole house. Great views throughout the day. Negatives: Windows were dirty and lounge area dusty. If you are willing to rent out a holiday home, you should be prepared for last minute bookings. Saw no effort to at least clean windows. Dirt was more evident during the day and this was very disappointing because we had to look through these windows to see the lake. Also, website mentions 2 bathrooms. This should be modified because there is only one bathroom. Toilet area is a separate room. Bedroom side tables were also dusty. I've mentioned this to the holiday manager that it seems we were paying the cleaning fee for the next tenants when the property was itself not cleaned for our stay. Property manager did not seem friendly in communication and was not much helpful. For the price, this was disappointing.
