Douglas “We loved the house and surroundings.”
Especially the deck for evening meal . Have already booked a return visit next month. Also liked having the reserve behind the back fence, which had useful gate to access it.

Jocelyn “Comfortable basic accommodation in a great location.”
Toys and pens etc were appreciated by the kids
- Jocelyn, December 2022Kelsi “Bach is simple and cosy, and has a nice gated yard.”
Easy walking distance to cafe and beach. It’s a bit old and had a strong musty smell in the bedrooms though. Could probably use a good clean. Our experience of Bachcare was pretty poor, and would rate their service very low. They gave us the wrong check in instructions, so we had to wait for an hour outside with a toddler while they figured out how we got a key. Definitely felt their service was unhelpful.
- Kelsi, November 2022Thank you for taking the time to review your stay and we are so sorry that your experience was not entirely positive - we will address the issues raised. Bachcare
Janet “Lovely setting and particulary the outdoor area and furniture.”
Close to the beach.
- Janet, February 2022Sharon “This cottage had the beautiful gardens with a relaxed beach vibe.”
It was a nice stroll down the road to the beach. We wish it was cold enough to light the open fire. The decor is a little dated but this adds to the wonderful beach vibe. We would recommend and hope to stay here again.
- Sharon, November 2021Keith “Was lovely relaxed and very close to beach.”
- Keith, April 2021Kaye “Lovely spot close to the beach with a wildlife reserve over the fence.”
Extremely well equipped kitchen that could serve up meals for many. Two comfortable bedrooms with Queen size beds so suited 2 couples but not ideal for a family. Living rates comfortably and attractively furnished. Lots of outside space. 10 minutes to train station for an effortless journey into Wellington.
- Kaye, April 2021Debra “Good location.”
Close to beach & cafes. Can take sky chip if you want sky. Convenient to estuary walk to beach.
- Debra, April 2021Jonathan “This was a great bach for two couples to stay in.”
It's a short walk to the beach, has a nice yard/deck area to BBQ in, tidy place with everything you'd need to comfortably make meals and have a nice stay in Waikanae.
