Acacia Bay is close to Taupo Central We had some reservations from previous feedback but found Krissel Castle to be in pristine condition following a deep clean and tidy up. Noted for owner - front door jams The garden has been well maintained and amazing amount of work done to manicure trees and shrubs Great views night & day of Taupo as well as rural area near Acacia Bay Drive up Mapara Road to fantastic L'Art which is an Art and pottery gallery and includes great cafe for breakfast and lunch (also visit Ross Palmer pottery a few k's further Up the road)

I needed to go and buy liquid soap as both bathrooms had none left in the containers. Supply of toilet paper was minimum. We needed to arrange and refit cords so the TV would work, expected this should have been checked between lets. Property not clean, spider webs and dust throughout. Carpet nails sticking out of the floor near the lounge room slide doors, to prevent scratching needed to wear shoes in this area. No recycling bin on site I used the neighbours bin! Front door sticks is very hard to open and shut.

Clearly had not been washed. Had pulled out the bedding from my kids sleeping on turning it over to find unwashed duvet set with blood stains from either intercourse or period so disgusting!

The house was beautiful and private exactly as described and we would definitely stay there again! Perfect location! Only thing we would add is having access to firewood and some outdoor furniture to enjoy the view while having a meal

Great location. Quiet. But our dog got out through the fence. Two of the beds are comfortable and what you would expect for the money but the other two are not. My daughter had a sore back from sleeping on the hard mattress. The leak of the laundry window, reported in a previous review has still not been fixed. Bad leak from the top of the frame. The washing I had piled on the table got wet. The coffee plunger was missing a crucial part. Bit of a spring clean needed around windows/doors outside. Gate latch broke and my husband replaced it because we needed to keep the dogs in.

Bridget “We enjoyed our stay at Krissel Castle, perfect set up for the dogs as its fully fenced with lovely gardens.”
The house is a good size for a family with the master suite at the end of the hallway with its own ensuite and a door for privacy. The house is older than portrayed by the photos with quite a few carpet stains, however any home that allows dogs is unlikely to have new carpet. The ensuite could do with an upgrade and the toilet was old and had an unpleasant odour. Over all we enjoyed the house and would stay again.

It is very run down and so overpriced for what you get. The photos of the property make it look so much nicer than in real life. It smelt like dogs and stale cigarettes inside. There were no nice touches left for guests not even one coffee pod for the coffee machine. No basic things like a hand towel or a bath mat and the communication between bachcare and myself was so difficult. Such a shame.

A little bit dated, but truly appreciated the heaters in each room, and access to heat pump and fire place. Bonus that we could bring our two small pooches to a fully fenced property! We found a wallet from a previous guest that we left on the bench with a note. We also struggled to find the recycle bin so took that with us. Would definitely stay again

Loved the gardens and having a fenced property with space for the dog to explore was awesome. We did a lot of our own cooking for the weekend, the kitchen was so well equipped with everything we needed. Comfortable beds and a great range of books. We would have really liked to use the fireplace but the heat pump and heaters did keep the house warm and snug. A few suggestions for improvement by Bachcare would be to ensure there is an information booklet for the property available, the gas bottle ran out half way through our first night bbq, and we didn't have internet as didn't have the password.

Lots of room - the house is well set up for a family or group and doesn't feel overlooked. Can walk down to lake for swims. We had a great holiday and would happily rebook if available next time around.

Such a great view of the lake and Taupo lights at night, and despite a few unexpected snow flurries we stayed cosy with either fire or heat pump, plus there are electric heaters in the bedrooms. So great to have my dog be able to come with us, has a good set up in the laundry for pets to sleep across from one of the bedrooms. Not that easy if you want to keep an eye on your dog outside due to the terraced garden, but well fenced. Short walk down to the lake or the dairy. Nice quiet area. Would definitely stay here again.

Just a few minutes drive from Taupo Central, Acacia Bay is a great place for a holiday filled with boating, fishing and hiking. Head into town for some shopping and an array of excellent cafes, or drive to see the famous Huka Falls. Another great thing to do is to simply find a good spot and take in the view of Lake Taupo over a picnic or some fish and chips.
