Suzanne “Third time to stay in this property, exactly what we need.”
Comfortable and warm with enough space for everyone

Melissa “For the owner: Thank you so much for having us to stay at your bach.”
We had a wonderful weekend at your beautiful bach and enjoyed cooking yummy kai in your very well stocked kitchen. It makes such a difference having a few large pots. The place was cozy with the fire on when we got there on a chilly and rainy friday night. We liked using the table and umbrella on saturday afternoon when it finally fined up enough for a BBQ in the sun. For bachcare: The process for contacting bachcare was unduly onerous and I would not recommend using bachcare or book a bach to book a place to stay in the future. I booked through book a bach because I had previously been double booked through bachcare and it had been a very poor experience dealing with that. However, I called to find out whether linen was provided and this involved me being transferred between the two providers with no resolution until I rang again the day before. It was then confirmed that yes linen was provided. When we arrived it looked like the beds had been made. However when we went to bed we found nothing under the duvets and had to make up our own beds. We had to work out which linen went on which bed and some did not fit. I am still unclear whether linen was in fact "provided". While a relatively small inconvenience, it was the process of being on the phone for over an hour and passed from book a bach to bach care and back again that was most frustrating. We had a great holiday but I will not be using bach care again.
- Melissa, February 2023Thank you for taking the time to provide your feedback and we are delighted that you enjoyed your stay at this wonderful bach. We do apologise for the confusion over the linen and hope that you give Bachcare another chance in the future to get things right. Bachcare
Suzanne “Wow what a fabulous property, like a home away from home.”
We totally loved the pool table and the space outside.
- Suzanne, October 2022Steph “We had such a great stay at Bach Noir!”
It had everything we needed (family of five, three young kids), it was warm, modern, clean and beautifully finished. The section was perfect for kicking a ball around and it was nice and close to the lake. Tried to rebook for the summer but wasn't at all surprised to find it was already booked out! We'll definitely be back!
- Steph, July 2022Valerie “The house is spacious and cozy.”
A great place to relax after a day of adventures with the kids.
- Valerie, April 2022Haleigh “What an awesome home!”
The place is clean, spacious and has everything you need. The house number (as well as most along the street) do not have visible numbers/letterboxes, so its a little hard to find. So look for the silver gate if you are arriving late. The sleepout is great! Comes with a heater and even in the coldest of winter days (and nights) the heater is enough to keep you toasty. The lounge is spacious enough. We had 7 adults and 2 kids and still had plenty of space. The beds are all comfy. Most come with pillow top matresses on top. All the pillows are great but they are all "fat" ones so if you like flat pillows you need to bring your own. The ensuite has 2 doors. One to the bedrooms and one out to the sleepout. Make sure to keep the sleepout door unlocked to let those in the sleepout in at night lol there is a light outside but it is a sensor light so would suggest taking a light with you to the bathroom at night. The bathrooms have bodywash, shampoo, conditioner and handwash which were great. The kitchen utensils were great. No cheap rubbish ones and have everything you need. The fireplace is amazing. Keeps the whole house warm. Even the bedrooms. You wont need the heaters on and it will keep going through the night. This home doesnt have a dryer but does have a huge airdryer which you can hang the clothes on inside by the fire. The house is around 20 mins or so from Turangi and the nearby shop doesnt have much so i would suggest getting everything you need before getting to the house. About 45 to 50 minutes from the Whakapapa ski field and about 10 minutes from the Tokaanu hot pools. Overall and amazing stay. Would definitely book this home again.

The property
On the western side of Lake Taupo at the edge of Kuratau, Bach Noir sits ready to host your holiday. This three-bedroom home, plus sleepout, is a great getaway filled with character. Open up the lounge onto the patio in summer to let the breeze in, fire up the BBQ, and enjoy outdoor dining no matter the meal! If it's a wintery lake escape with the family you're looking forward to, there is plenty to keep everyone entertained and enjoying their holiday on those colder days. Enjoy all the essentials, such as WiFi and a TV with Freeview and a DVD player, as well as a few awesome extras such as a dartboard, board games and a pool table. While in Kuratau spend your days out on the lake kayaking, swimming, or boating. There is a children's playground on the lakefront of Kuratau, which is a great place for the kids to let loose and burn some energy. Take the time to walk the tracks within the ancient Pureora rainforest, the views are outstanding and it is well worth the trek. Visit the Kuratau River Wines restaurant for a delicious meal and locally sourced wine. If you are craving adventure, Mt Ruapehu and the Whakapapa ski fields are only a 50-minute drive down the road. Or if you are looking for a retail therapy day, Taupo town centre is an hour drive away. A restful holiday in Kuratau awaits - come and enjoy Bach Noir!
