Haley “We had a fantastic stay at Chalet Mahuta.”
It was well-equipped, comfortable and warm, and had plenty of space for our two families. The rumpus room with ping pong table was a bonus. The only thing we couldn't seem to find were tea towels, but it otherwise had everything we needed. And you can't beat that view!

- Eve, January 2024Alicia “Great home for an amazing and enjoyable family holiday.”
Plenty of space for a large family and right across the road is the lake for swimming. Will definitely be back.
- Alicia, January 2024Cat “A fantastic house in a lovely location.”
The kitchen is very well equiped and good quality bedding and towels. There was some road noise but it didnt bother us. Very nice being right in front of the lake.
- Cat, August 2023Donovae “It was my first time booking and staying at a bachcare house and the house was just amazing.”
The only downsides were the water leaking at the back door from the shower and the top shower plug not being cleaned properly from all the hair. Other than that, myself and my family loved our visit and how close it was to town. Thank you for hosting us. We will definitely be back again
- Donovae, March 2023Thank you for your recent feedback on your stay, Donovae. It's great to hear that your enjoyed your stay at Chalet Mahuta. We appreciate your comments on the shower issue. This has been passed on to our local manager to address. Bachcare
Krystal “My family and I loved our stay here.”
Nice and quiet neighborhood, close to the lake and short drive to town. The game room and deck were the favorite parts of the house. We would definitely book to stay here again. Thank you :)
- Krystal, March 2023Sarah “Thank you for having us to stay in your fantastic bach.”
The house exceeded expectations and was so well set up. We loved our stay here and thought the house was very well appointed. Everything one could need was there and more! The view from the house was sensational and the lake being a 30 second walk from the house was amazing and was a perfect swimming spot. We will definitely be coming back. I highly recommend this property. Many thanks
- Sarah, February 2023Jo “Amazing location and views; awesome house, well stocked & clean.”

- Jo, January 2023Charlene “We had a wonderful stay at Chalet Mahuta, we were a group of 10 adults, 3 couples and 4 singles and the layout was great for us!”

- Charlene, November 2022PECELI “Enjoyed our stay had a beautiful view of Mount Tongariro”
- PECELI, August 2022Grant “Chalet Mahuta is an amazing house.”
..great for kids to play downstairs, and a wonderful huge high ceiling lounge heated by the best efficient fire I've ever used. Lovely location across from lake and walking/cycle path, and traffic noise isn't a problem. Will definitely come back again in summer next time!
- Grant, June 2022Levius “Really nice funky house, cool layout with games room downstairs.”
Nice big balcony with great view of the lake. No wifi so it’s nice to switch off and have a relaxing weekend. Only downside is there were a couple dead cockroaches when we arrived and only 4 rolls of toilet paper for 10 people staying 3 nights, disappointing having to drive all the way into town and buy some considering how much you pay. Other than that it’s a amazing house and great for big groups.
- Levius, February 2022Jill “Highly recommend this chalet to stay in.”
Very clean, great beds and bedding, good size rooms. The free standing fire place is amazing. Having 10 of us was not a problem. Had plenty of hot water for showers as we were staying here because of the Marathon. Off street parking accommodating 3 vehicles. Thanks for a wonderful stay.,
- Jill, July 2021Karl “This is a huge house.”
We had two families (4 adults and 5 children under 11 years old) and there was still space to fit more comfortably. The house itself is a nice mix of modern comforts whilst retaining original features (original wallpaper etc) to make for a characterful and comfortable bach. We appreciated the down duvets on all the beds rather than cheap synthetic ones for instance. The rumpus room was great to offload the kids to whilst we cooked dinner or relaxed. There are two bathrooms so no waiting for others. The fire cranks out the heat, whilst there are additional heaters in every room. The deck and bbq would be great in summer, and being across the road from the beach is a bonus.
- Karl, July 2021Chas “Enjoyed our stay, great tidy house and location.”
A good user friendly contactless system while there is Covid.
- Chas, September 2020Wendy “We had a wonderful stay, the fire was fantastic & so was the view over the lake to the snow capped mountains.”
Would highly recommend to anyone.
