Sharee “A fantastic property to share a weekend with friends.”
Comfortably fit 11 of us in, with lots of space to spread out. Kids particularly enjoyed the reserve area across the road. It had everything we needed. House was lovely and warm when we arrived, which was appreciated as we arrived late at night on a cold evening. Very good location.

Great location yet private, well set up. Exceeded expectations! The only comment I will make to give owners some feedback is the property was a bit light on supplies.. e.g. coffee jar empty, ran out of loo paper

The kitchen was well equipped with cooking and serving dishes, glassware etc. There was a good size pantry, great shower pressure, plenty of space in the house, nice quiet street, excellent laundry. There were only two negatives - the beds and the tv. Unfortunately the beds were not comfortable even for the children. The master bed downstairs felt small, maybe a Queen, and was not great quality; the single beds were uncomfortable for adults and the sofabed was impossible to sleep with the springs poking your back. We were staying during the cyclone period in January so wanted to watch some films but the tv had no sky or Netflix so there was very little to choose from. For a house of this quality, we would have liked to have this entertainment option. Overall a lovely place to stay

Great location and great house - loved the option of bringing our own linen etc. Will definitely recommend to friends with a large group.

Only problems were: - Ping pong balls all smashed - no cooking oil in kitchen - top drawer of dishwasher broken - hot water cylinder didn’t cope with our group, was only lukewarm when we arrived, we found a switch to heat it up, but constantly ran out of hot water. Some of kids didn’t get to wash at all over the weekend. - pull out sofa horribly uncomfortable, couldn’t actually use it, kids didn’t settle as springs were digging into their backs so at 2am we moved them to the floor instead. Overall had a great time and would definitely stay here again.

Room for the family, and space for a birthday gathering. We were able to spend the early part of the day on the deck in the sun overlooking the lake, and then move inside as the sun went down. Would definitely use again.

The view across to the lake from the deck is lovely and its only a short walk to the shore, the lake walkway and bike track. There is easy access out to the main road. We loved the fireplace which made the house warm and cosy. Highly recommend this place to everyone. Lots of room for 3 couples plus kids or a big family

The location next to third mile bay reserve is also excellent, especially for children who need to burn off some energy! The home has all the comforts you would want: a wood fire, heat pump, 4 toilets, BBQ and good indoor/outdoor entertaining options, and spectacular views of lake. Remember to throw in your own binoculars if you go so that you can zoom in on sights on lake and the Taupo district when there. View from Master bedroom is exceptional!

Could have done with more dry firewood. Hopefully the idiosyncratic issues we noted will be fixed. Ie; two heated towel rails in one bathroom, and no heated towel rail in another.

Enjoying a brilliant lakeside position within a 5 to 10-minute drive of the town centre, this spacious and family-friendly home is an ideal lake base with views overlooking Secombe Park and the Three Mile Bay boat ramp! Spread across two storeys, Pokaka Lake House includes generous open-plan living downstairs, with a fireplace for winter stays. Perfect for summer stays, Pokaka Lake House also enjoys seamless indoor-outdoor flow onto the deck, where you can fire up the BBQ and unwind, all while admiring the expansive lake vistas! Downstairs, this Wharewaka holiday home features two bedrooms, including a master suite with king size bed, ensuite bathroom and direct deck access. Upstairs you'll find a king bedroom and ensuite plus a loft that is fitted with a sofa bed. The twin room opens onto a private backyard deck. The main bathroom, also located downstairs, has a toilet bath and shower. There is also a sleepout here at Pokaka Lake House, accessed internally via the garage, that includes two sets of bunks and a separate toilet. This is an excellent home away from home, with a spacious and comfortable group set-up plus fantastic views and location. Pokaka Lake House waits to host your stay!
There is a maximum of eight (8) adults allowed per booking at this property.
Adults should closely supervise young children when in the bedroom on the second level as the bi-fold windows can be opened widely and the barrier is below one metre (as shown in the photos).
Please note that the back garden is fully enclosed and safe for small children to play.
