“We really enjoyed our stay - the house was really clean and well presented.”

The beds comfy! And lovely to enjoy nice glassware while having a wine! We enjoyed being such a close walk to the village. Would love to come back at some point.

“Great location & mostly comfortable apart from lacking in 1 guest towel.”

Just a little concerned to arrive and find the front door wide open with key in door. We noticed one of locks on the sliding door of the shared bathroom doesn’t work so communication had to be clear. The cleanliness could’ve also been better as there were still spider webs in entrance way, closets, the floors felt gritty and dust on bed side tables of the master room. It’s not a major however you can imagine with a toddler (touching and getting into everything). The boards/ floor base in both of the showers have warped so it doesn’t feel steardy. Purely feedback on house design - whoever stays in the room with the bunks, which shower do they use. The ensuite of master or the shared bathroom between the other rooms. It’s a little out of sorts but we made it work. Whilst these are all small things, it has been a bit disappointing to say the least especially with the cost for the place. We do however love the range of kids toys - this was hugely appreciated.

“Lovely home well presented like a show home just lacking in a little comfort for the price.”

(Sofa and beds firm) For over $900 a night no spa or swimming pool or beach or country view so it is more suitable for a large group of eight people. Only one tv which important if you have kids so take your iPads. Lovely quiet place to use as base to explore the region.

“This home and its surrounds was everything it was stated to be - expansive, clean and tidy, quiet, comfortable, well appointed, and easy to access.”

It had everything we, as a group of family and friends, required for our stay and the icing on the cake, was the 5-minute walk to the Village of Matakana accessed via a 'walkway'. If we had one small gripe, it was that the cavity sliding door between the double bedroom and the shared bathroom, was unable to close sufficiently to allow it to be locked from the inside. Given that that bathroom for us was a 'family' share, we made it work, but I suspect 'friends' sharing that bathroom may have found the situation a little uncomfortable. That aside, we loved it and would consider staying there again.

“Great location and lovely place.”

Unfortunately two of the beds were not made even though we paid for all the linen. Not enough bath towels provided and only 3-4 small kitchen towels for the whole weekend (we did quite a bit of cooking so would've appreciated a few more towels). Cleaning in some of the rooms (especially window sills etc) wasn't great also, feedback has been given to the owners). Kitchen well equipped, and great location to walk to Matakana Markets too.

“Fabulous house - lovely and spacious.”

Quick walk to Matakana village so location is perfect. All bed super comfortable, kitchen well stocked with all apparatus you'd need. Great BBQ and outdoor space. Would definitely recommend and stay again!!

“Our group of 6 adults (two couples, two singles) had a wonderful relaxing stay here.”

It's not often that a holiday house can feel like a home away from home, but this place really does it. Comfortable beds, modern amenities including excellent cooking facilities, a full laundry, smart TV and a wonderful little courtyard to laze away the afternoon with a book and a glass of wine. If we had to find fault (and there really was none!) it did take us an embarrassingly long time to figure out the childlock on the induction stove top (thank you google!), and the starter for the BBQ was not operational - no harm, the lamb leg went in the oven instead ;)

“We were very disappointed with bachcare.”

We couldn’t get into the property and online calls using different code numbers did not work. Local agent had to come out to let us in. That night we had one guest whose bed was not made, no sheets on it at all. We had booked for 4 women, notified that 3 would be staying, they made up a king bed and a queen bed and that was all. Local agent was not told to expect couples or singles. Total lack of communication. No instructions to get free tv and the local agent couldn’t work the tv either. Overall the house is good but accommodation provider is very poor

“Firstly the great stuff - wonderful house, location and set up.”

Clean, comfortable and really lovely place to stay. Would likely come back again - but a little wary from a few of our experiences. Three negatives that really affected my ratings - (1) no response from Bachcare to an email before our stay began, nor to an emergency phone call during our stay regarding the water supply running out; (2) the water supply stopped 6 days into our stay - we were not at all heavy users - quick showers, dishwasher run only twice, and washing machine also twice - there were no instructions, emergency number, location of the water tank or any other information provided as to what to do when the water supply stopped/ran out even though it was obvious there must be a tank on the property. We took the initiative to turn off the hot water cylinder to prevent the possibility of fire as no hot water was coming through the taps either - but a call to Bachcare elicited no response and we were left wondering how to resolve without leaving to go to a motel. Turned out we had water sporadically back around 10pm again that evening - but at the time we were trying to find information we didn't know that would occur - and had no confidence that it wouldn't run out again; (3) no rubbish bin or information supplied at the property as to what to do with the rubbish at the end of the stay. We dutifully used the recycling bin for relevant items - but didn't have any guidance as to whether to put anything on the kerb (and what day was collection day), leave it at the property, or dispose of it ourselves.

“We loved this Matakana property - very well set out stylish home, four totally separate bedrooms so that everyone can get a good night's sleep without being disturbed by babies or snorers!”

Plenty of crockery and glassware if you are having extra guests over for dinner or celebratory drinks, and walking distance to the Matakana shops and bakeries/takeaways/restaurants. It was the perfect place for our family and the bridal party to get ready for a wedding and there was plenty of room for the hair and makeup people to do their thing. Wouldn't hesitate to stay here again.
