Graeme “Ekhaya is a delightful, comfortable and private cottage which is equipped with absolutely everything that you could possible want during your stay.”
Liz and Mike are wonderful, friendly and helpful hosts. The cottage is in a quiet residential location and is surprisingly private with a great outdoor, covered sitting area. The beach is a short 5 minute walk and access to the coastal walk/cycleway is just across the road. This cottage is a gem. Thank you Liz and Mike for a wonderful stay.

Kathryn “We enjoyed staying at Ekhaya, had everything we needed and Liz and Mike were lovely to deal with.”
We enjoyed access to the Coastal walkway across the road. Would definitely stay again.
- Kathryn, October 2024Jayne “A fire had been made for us when we arrived which was a lovely welcome.”
The place felt like a home away from home with the thoughtful décor and beautiful garden. Great, quiet location which was handy to a nice little beach, local shops and the CBD. The kitchen was fully equipped with everything we needed, and there were even frozen, home-cooked meals in the freezer. Loved the spa bath! A very relaxing experience. Would highly recommend.
- Jayne, August 2024Daisy “We had a very lovely stay, the owners were very lovely and let us know we could check out late on Sunday as they had no future bookings.”
They even had frozen meals in the freezer (which we didn't need as we came prepared) but it was all very sweet. Having somewhere we can take pooch for the weekend is always a bonus too. If we ever come back will definitely stay again.
- Daisy, August 2024Moira “Wonderful stay, again.”
10/10. Thanks Liz and Mike

Very comfortable and clean, nicely decorated and well resourced. Very nice to be greeted by the friendly owners. The neighborhood is quiet and close to a walkway through bush and the beach. Chocolates were a nice touch as was milk butter teas and coffee. We enjoyed our stay a great deal. Thank you.

Excellent property. Can’t fault it. Well located and equipped, and comfortable. Great for dogs, we really appreciated being able to have them with us. Perfect with the coastal walkway just across the road. Would definitely return and recommend.

Our stay was so stress free in your beautiful cottage. Kindest hosts ever - choc treats, large milk provided and thoughtful offer to partake of food from freezer if we wanted.
- Monica, January 2024Pamela “Wonderful place to stay.”
Perfect location within a short walking distance to the beach and trails. Close to a supermarket and food. Loved that our dogs could stay here with us. And we also loved the dart board, pool table, ping pong table and board games. It kept us entertained when it was raining. Thank you.

There are lots to do even on a rainy day, there is pool/table tennis, darts to keep you entertained. And a beautiful garden to just marvel the beauty. Plus you got really helpful and hospitable host in Mike and Liz what more can you ask for? Highly recommended to everyone! Thanks Mike and Liz for everything! And for even sending our daughter’s charger by post. You guys are just awesome!
- Carmelo, December 2023Rowena “We found this to be a comfortable and roomy part-house (owners in the other side).”
Friendly hostess and lovely garden, and we really appreciate being able to bring our dog. The road was a bit noisy but we live in a quiet area so may notice it more than other people.
- Rowena, November 2023Geoff “Beautifully kept.”
Warm and comfortable. Home made soup much appreciated.
- Geoff, September 2023Crystal “A tidy and cozy property, perfect for a getaway with a dog.”
A 2 minute walk from the beach and immediately adjacent to the coastal walkway. Appreciated Liz coming to check how we were settling in and really enjoyed the treats that were at the house when we arrived. Only thing missing would be a washing machine but there is a laundromat just down the road if you need it. Would definitely recommend and would come back to stay again.

Lovely stay, we will come again.
- Jacobus, May 2023Jackie “The fire going and warmth inside on arrival in the rain was lovely, now living life with a heat pump, the log fire was just a treat.”
It certainly can heat the area, as getting rid of the excess heat we had to leave the front door open later in the evening. Our host popped in which was lovely, reassuring. I loved all the quirks and the art works, all giving it a homely feel. The dart board also a delight, hadn't played darts in a long while. It meet all our requirements, we could come and go easily, comfy bed, good shower. Thank you to people that share these homes, and make breaks easily accessible with good places to stay.

A perfect base for a New Plymouth trip. The house had everything we needed, and the hosts were very accommodating. I would definitely recommend this place and thank you again to the hosts for such a great experience, especially considering they allowed our two dogs!

Good place to relax after a long hike. Convenient location, the shops and beach are under 5min drive and city centre is only 15mins away. Liz is a great host and we appreciate her dropping by to check if everything is okay and if we have any recommendations. Definitely recommended and we would come back.
