Larry “Pillows REALLY need to be upgraded or suggest to bring own.”
Single cup coffee plunger too small for number of people property can accommodate. Made this comment last time so obviously not something that is going to change. Otherwise happy with rental and nice to have heaters turned on prior to arrival.

Alex “Awesome facility and close to the mountain.”
Cheers for the stay.
- Alex, September 2023Anthony “Was great to relax in the spa after a day on the mountain skiing.”
The house was clean and tidy We enjoyed the cosy fireplace, it warmed the house up fast! Great location, we would stay again.
- Anthony, September 2023Elizabeth “If you can find this house in the dark - no number or signpost from the road - and then make it through the deep puddle on the driveway, then you're sure to be disappointed.”
Dirty, full of cobwebs, old shabby furniture and a tiny kitchen. Would be hard to cook for 10 in that space but thankfully we ate out both nights. Heating wasn't on when we arrived so the house was freezing cold. The bathrooms are very basic with no heating. Bring slippers, hot water bottles and thermal layers. The hot tub wasn't clean either but at least it was switched on. The only good thing is the location - walking distance to the Powder Keg and The Kitchen restaurant and the right end of town for getting straight on the road up to Turoa in the morning. The price per night needs to drop considerably for this standard of accommodation to be acceptable.
- Elizabeth, August 2023Thank you for your feedback, we are sorry that you didn't enjoy your stay. We feel that the photos on the listing clearly indicate kitchen size and what furniture to expect. This is not a 5 star accommodation but is family friendly, comfortable and warm, with heaters in every room and a fireplace and heat transfer system that heats up the house in 10 mins if you light the fire. Unfortunately, the situation with the street lighting is largely out of our control, as is the pothole at the entrance to the driveway. These issues have been flagged with the city council. The cleaning team found the Spa to be crystal clean the day after you left, but there were some small pebbles in the bottom from foot traffic - apologies for this. Bachcare
Helen “When we arrived the place was dirty, we cleaned it.”
The spa was dirty too - very disappointing, full of sand and green algae stuff came out of jets. There was a note to say the woodbox needed to be refilled on departure. There was a combo lock with no code. Woodbox was quarter full when we arrived. Had to ring to get code, 2nd phone call we got a response. The property was immaculate when we left - feel need to be reinbursed for cleaning fee. Facility is great but needs instructions
- Helen, July 2023Thank you for your review Helen. The spa is serviced professionally and the jets are also on an automatic cycle that rinse through the filters, so we are not sure how there is green algae present. We have never had a guest say the property was dirty - our owners were devastated to receive a negative review to that effect. We are working with the property manager to have a look deeper into this. We appreciate your constructive feedback on the instruction booklet, and agree that we need more instructions at the property, and this is underway, the main instruction booklet appears to have gone missing. Lynda “It was perfect for our group and doing the Crossing”
- Lynda, March 2023Larry “Really enjoyed our stay.”
Lots of good points, especially the comfy bed in single room. Best to upgrade the single cup coffee plunger to a family size! Lounge seating getting bit soft in the sqaubs. Please repair wooden deck chair. Will likely try and book again when the need arises.
- Larry, February 2023Anna “Kia ora Absolutely loved The Station.”
Perfect location and perfect place. Fantastic time with beautiful mountain bush and rivers etc. Facilities were great and we especially appreciated the working spa pool. So lovely to come back to each day. Really nothing but positive feedback from us. All very easy. Tiny comments just in case they are helpful - might be good to have some guidance or instructions in the home - for using things like spa, rubbish (which is rubbish day and what to do with it) or locking up when you leave or anything you would find helpful for guests to get right. An external wheelie bin or other bin for bags prior to rubbish day may be helpful to minimise them being ripped up in between. Also - washing line maybe? Those are mere suggestions - we very much loved your house. Ngā mihi nui Anna
- Anna, December 2022Gabriel “Lovely home and amenities was fantastic.”
The spa pool was so so enjoyable.
- Gabriel, December 2022Pubudini “Everything was good except there was no dishwasher and the spa pool was not warm enough.”
The spa pool was very cold the temperature was 31 C and we could not increase it. And there was some sand in it too. Only one rubbish bag was provided and it was not enough for 3 nights. Thanks for the awesome heating in all the rooms, loved it.
- Pubudini, July 2022Maurene “We had a fabulous family break very close to everything, the property was great ...”
We had a fabulous family break very close to everything, the property was great with plenty of room, would recommend it especially for a large family
- Maurene, July 2022Joanna “The Station was a charming place to stay - we loved that the house had been converted from a rail station, which gives it a lot of character.”
It was a great size for our 2 combined families and was in a good location, close to the Ohakune village but still nice and quiet. The spa pool was a big hit with everyone. We would stay here again :)
- Joanna, January 2022Kirsty “A great character building sitting on the edge of a public green space -which was much loved by our dog.”
We had our summer holiday here and it was a great base for our extended family to explore the mountain and go mountain biking. The spa pool was really appreciated at the end of the day. 6 double beds plus singles meant there weren't too many arguments and the bathroom facilities were plenty for our group. The huge table was a great place for after dinner games.
- Kirsty, January 2022Hilary “Lovely place to stay in the summer with a great outdoor area”

- Cheryl, April 2021Kirsty “Great location next to the reserve and easy walking distance to Cafe and restaurants.”
The house was clean, but not too fancy - the fire kept us toasty, with room for two families to spend time together. Afternoon sun on the deck and spa topped off the stay.
