    “We really enjoyed our stay here.”

    The house was spacious and there were lots of places to ‘be’. The beds were comfy with nice linen, the showers were good (please note: soap is not provided) and the kitchen was well equipped. We loved the views, sitting out on the deck, swimming in the estuary, resting in the lounge and using the kitchen. It’s a good place to take your kayak and your bike and you can use the kayaks provided. There was good parking but guests need to know that the driveway is really steep, so not for ...

    The house was spacious and there were lots of places to ‘be’. The beds were comfy with nice linen, the showers were good (please note: soap is not provided) and the kitchen was well equipped. We loved the views, sitting out on the deck, swimming in the estuary, resting in the lounge and using the kitchen. It’s a good place to take your kayak and your bike and you can use the kayaks provided. There was good parking but guests need to know that the driveway is really steep, so not for nervous drivers! Just a couple of things for the owners to consider. Firstly, three of the four members of our group, while packing the dishwasher, whacked their heads really hard, several times, on the shelving above it. To avoid injury, we suggest putting some kind of padding on the corner (or removing the shelf!). Secondly, the fridge. Each time you need ingredients out of the fridge while cooking (or just getting out milk for a cup of tea), you have to exit the kitchen, open the door, get the stuff, close it and re-enter the kitchen. A small thing, but so inconvenient! Perhaps the opening of the fridge door could be reversed? Also the bottom shelf of the fridge is nearly freezing, resulting in a whole pile of vegetables being ruined in just in one day. Apart from these small things, we highly recommend the house to other guests, and thank the owners. We would definitely come back!

Linen

Our linen service will provide all sheets, pillowcases, towels, bath mats, and tea towels for your stay. We’ll also make up the beds for you prior to arrival and strip them down after your departure. Pillows and duvets are provided at the property.

This stunning holiday spot has been designed to maximise its uninterrupted views of the Taipa Estuary and through to Karikari Peninsula. Picture you and the family dining alfresco in summer or snuggling up on the sofa on a winter retreat with this brilliant backdrop! Soul Retreat is a family home offering ample living space in the elevated open-plan living, dining and kitchen area, plus three bedrooms, three bathrooms and an additional guest toilet. On the sunny north-westerly side of the home, open the bi-folding doors of the lounge and let the fresh coastal air in. Find yourself wandering out onto the sheltered sundeck to enjoy the year-round warm weather that Cable Bay enjoys. The interior of Soul Retreat has been carefully curated and decorated with the right balance of homely furnishings, great pops of colour, and modern fittings. It comes equipped with a BBQ, a Smart TV with Netflix for evening entertainment, and WiFi when you want to post some great snaps of the view! With the estuary right at the bottom of the garden, you and your family will be able to come and go from the water's edge all day long. There is a kayak on-site, just waiting to hit the water. And when you get back, there is even an outdoor shower to help everyone rinse off! If you have plans to bring the boat and head out onto the water, the Taipa boat ramp is 1km away. Soul Retreat sits at the northern edge of Cable Bay, with amazing neighbouring towns and beaches all nearby and when you don't feel like cooking, take a short seven-minute drive to the famous Mangonui Fish Shop! With incredible views and enough room for your whole family or group to enjoy an idyllic NZ waterfront hideaway, Soul Retreat is calling your name!

There are two kayaks available to use one single and one double. There are two life-jackets available to use with the kayaks but we do recommend that guests bring their own well-fitting life-jackets to ensure safety.

Please be aware there is an attached unit that is tenanted and will be occupied during your stay.

As the property has unfenced access to the estuary, adults should closely supervise young children while outside to ensure they are safe around water.

Guests should take care when accessing the property as there is a steep driveway.

Please note the pictured spa pool is not available for guest use.

About the location

The seaside settlements of Coopers Beach, Cable Bay and Taipa overlook some truly spectacular coastline. For those who enjoy diving, Coopers Beach offers some great shore diving spots. Head into Mangonui to try the 'world famous in New Zealand' fish and chips (a must!), and to wander about the quaint shops and streets of this charming fishing village.
