Lisa “Dirty Laundry from previous renter not collected.”
Hard rain came through dripping down vertical posts beside slider and pooled on floor. Couch was so uncomfortable. Heatpump required. Would not stay again.
- Lisa, March 2024Hi Lisa , thank you for your feedback. We are sorry to hear that your experience with us fell short of your expectations, particularly with regard to cleanliness and the situation with the dirty laundry. We would like to assure you that we have addressed these issue with our cleaning team to ensure that it does not happen again and have also addressed the maintenance and amenities with the owner of the property. Lisa “A fantastic stay for our family!”
! Perfect size and everything readily available and accessible. Children managed the stairs fine with some guidance. We will absolutely be back again !! Perhaps one suggestion would be to add a note to tenants reminding to turn the gas off the bbq as when we arrived we could smell strong gas and it had been left on.
- Lisa, January 2024Carole “It was great place to stay.”
only minor things for improvement 1. there was only kindling for one night 2. key fell down from lock box into gap between house & deck. Had to call for another key. happened before apparently. fill the gap ? 3. in high winds, the external white pipe pointing up above the roof line at the back of house ( by driveway) vibrated noisily enough to wake me up. some supporting bracing at an angle from both sides up to top of pipe should fix it. 4. maybe a chopping block to cut kindling would be good (maybe small concrete pad ??) pretty minor points - excellent place to salary - highly recommend it.

The Owls Nest is very warm & homely, I hope I will be able to stay there in 2 years time for the next Wheels at Wanaka. This is a really lovely little cottage.
- Ross, April 2023Marjorie “We appreciated our stay at Owl’s Nest.”
The cottage was comfortable, clean and warm. We found Lake Hāwea was a great place as a base for our holiday and would highly recommend a stay at Owl’s Nest to others.

Great views from the comfort of the living room, great hiking and biking close by and good local food options. We loved our relaxing few days in Lake Hawea.
- laura, April 2021Carmen “Lovely comfortable little holiday house for a couple and maybe young adult visitors.”
Great little pot belly log burner that will keep the place warm in winter. We used the opportunity to store and lock our bikes in the garden shed when we didn’t use them.
- Carmen, March 2021Barbara “Compact and comfortable wee house idea for us as a couple”
- Barbara, February 2021Ian “Good clean excellent dwelling ,would use this again .”
Not suitable for kids with that ladder system .
- Ian, November 2020Thank you for your kind feedback. The owners have taken on board your thoughts on the ladder system and have recently upgraded this to be much safer and easier to use. It now features flat steps, two handrails and slides in and out on rollers, allowing the gate in the loft to close. A system that blocks off the bottom steps has also been made to prevent young children from climbing up unattended. Bachcare

A comfy couch is just waiting for you to nestle into with a good book, and for a bit of extra seating why not head up to the loft and bring the bean bags down! A well-equipped kitchen offers you plenty of space to whip up delicious meals on holiday, and the best part is there’s a dishwasher to take care of the washing up for you. Whilst there is no TV, unlimited internet and audio speakers are available for streaming content on your own devices at the end of your day exploring. This two bedroom Lake Hawea accommodation comfortable sleeps up to four guests.. The downstairs bedroom features a queen bed, while the loft bedroom on the mezzanine has two singles that can be joined together to make a luxurious super-king! Lake Hawea is a magical spot to spend both summer and winter holidays, and here at the Owl’s Nest you’re not far from the attractions this little town has to offer. Just a six-minute walk from the house you’ll find the river trail, and in 12 minutes you’ll be at the lakefront with its stunning views. You’re welcome to store bikes and other adventure equipment in the garden shed, so make sure you bring it all along. There is a small store in Lake Hawea for topping up on supplies, or take a 15-minute drive to Wanaka where you’ll find a supermarket as well as plenty of eateries, shops, and activities. The Cardrona Alpine Resort is also only an hour away for a bit of snow fun! For a home away from home packed with modern charm, look no further than Lake Hawea Owl’s Nest!
As shown and described in the listing, there is a mezzanine bedroom at Lake Hawea Owl's Nest that is accessed via a secure ladder that has handrails. The ladder is on rollers and so can be pushed flush up against the wall when not in use. The mezzanine level is able to be closed off at the top with a gate when the ladder is in either position. An optional panel can be placed on the ladder to prevent children from climbing it. All guests should take extra care when accessing the mezzanine, and parents should closely supervise children.
Please note that the third photo shows the new ladder up to mezzanine with rails.
The two king single beds in the mezzanine bedroom can be joined together to create a super king bed. If you require the super king option, please let us know when booking so the appropriate linen can be provided.
Please note a bond may be charged at certain times of the year. One of our team members will contact you if this is required for your booking.About the location
