The property

Just a short 30-minute drive from Fairlie, Blue Mountain Station sits quietly within the remote Four Peaks Range — a 9,500-hectare high country escape perfect for those seeking space, solitude, and stunning scenery. This private, 5-hectare crystal-clear lake is a true hidden gem of the MacKenzie region, offering the perfect backdrop for a one-of-a-kind getaway. The Lodge and Lake House is designed for groups of up to 15 people. Blue Mountain Lodge is a brand-new, beautifully crafted retreat nestled among mature oregon and blue spruce trees. It sleeps five and features a large, fully equipped kitchen and dining area, a master bedroom with a queen bed, and a second bedroom with a queen and single. With a cosy fireplace, WiFi, TV, plush linens, and an outdoor BBQ, you’ll find everything you need for a relaxing stay. Just steps away, the Lake House brings rustic charm to the lakeside setting. Originally built in the 1960s and freshly renovated, it sleeps up to ten guests. It features a master bedroom with lake views, a second queen room, and a bunk room with six single beds. Outside, you’ll find a bar area, huge fire pit, and BBQs—perfect for evenings under the stars. Both homes share access to two brand-new bathrooms just off the Lodge’s patio. With four toilets, two showers, and plenty of storage, there’s ample room for everyone. Fed by the Orari River, the lake’s fresh, crystal-clear waters are ideal for swimming, water skiing, canoeing, and boating. At 400 metres long and up to 170 metres wide, with depths from 1.5 to 3 metres, it’s perfectly suited for everything from paddleboarding to jet boating. Mature willow trees ring the shoreline, sheltering the lake from wind and creating a peaceful, natural amphitheatre for your adventures. A lakeside boardwalk, boat launch, and private walkway make access a breeze. Canoes and paddles are supplied for your use, and the lake suits jet boats and outboards thanks to its generous depth. A small river crossing leads to this hideaway, which also boasts access to over 200km of private tracks across 9,500 hectares of stunning high-country terrain. Whether you're here to unwind, explore, or simply reconnect—Blue Mountain Lake promises an unforgettable escape.

Access to the lake is by 4x4 vehicle only, and guests must have prior river crossing experience. By proceeding with your booking, you acknowledge and accept full responsibility for crossing the river, and confirm that you are competent and capable of doing so safely and unassisted. You also confirm that your vehicle is suitable for river crossings. To reach the lake, you will need to cross the Orari River, which is a small braided river. Please note that your hosts are available to assist with the river crossing if needed—just reach out in advance to make arrangements.

All children must be supervised at all times, particularly around any bodies of water. Swimming in rivers is strictly prohibited.

Please note a bond may be charged at certain times of the year. One of our team members will contact you if this is required for your booking.
