Ben “Beautiful spot, everything you need… the internet didn’t work, and when it did it was so slow it barely worked.”
But the location is so beautiful, it was ok. Some of the outside lights don’t go. There’s a cool walk down to a private beach next door, that’s cool

Jayson “Hi Everyone, this place ticked all the boxes for us.”
We really enjoyed the time spent at this place and would book there again in the future. There is a little walk from where you park to the bach, but it’s only 25 meters or so. The views are great and the native birds flying around were really enjoyable to see. You really need to rent a car or have your own vehicle if you’re staying there as it is a bit far from anything, but that is kind of the point I guess. And by far it’s 5 - 10 minutes from most places, nothing really. It’s not super modern but it is tidy and well kept.
- Jayson, February 2024Alison “I booked this for our daughter and her partner and it was amazing.”
Owners were very helpful and quick to contact us. A special stay for them. Views incredible.
- Alison, December 2023Donna “Loved our stay, property was amazing and that view simply wow.”
....just amazing. Beds comfortable, lovely set out everything that you will need at this property. Would definitely stay there again. 10 out of 10
- Donna, March 2023Paula “Lovely place, would definitely recommend for a quiet getaway.”
It was better than expected.
- Paula, January 2023Paul “Nice and private location.”
It has all you need for a comfy stay.
- Paul, December 2022June “The cottage was great and I know its located in the bush but there where quite a few spiders & cobwebs that could've been removed.”
(from around the bath area & skirting boards). I think it would have also been helpful if you had said in the listing that you have to carry your gear to the chalet- listing says shared drive which is not that accurate. We looked around for a shared driveway before we realized the chalet was down a path. Apart from that the cottage was great.
- June, November 2022Cushla “The Best spot, for Views, privacy and tranquility.”
Loved it
- Cushla, March 2022Mike “Lovely Place.”
Great layout for a couple and spectacular views and birds in the treetops right off the deck. Not as far out as it looks on maps. Great local walking - steep hills but great little beaches, bush and birds.
- Mike, January 2022Milos “Words do not describe the beauty this property offers with the experience being exceeded on all levels”
- Milos, August 2021Alexandra “If you’re looking for a private retreat with gorgeous views and the sound of birdsong then Cross Trees is the place to go.”
We enjoyed sitting on the deck with a glass of bubbly - the weather played its part for us! We visited the local wineries during the day then returned to the chalet to enjoy the night views across to Maraetai. The short bush walk to Rocky Bay was worth it on such a glorious sunny day. Would like to return one day.
- Alexandra, May 2021Jamie “You'd be hard pressed to beat this view!”
An amazing place to stay with everything you need
- Jamie, April 2021Michelle “We really enjoyed staying here!”
The location was perfect and the view - wow. Being able to do the walks around Te Whau helped balance our over indulgence with all the great food and wine we had across the Island. The bach had everything we could have needed for our stay. We will be back.
- Michelle, February 2021Colin “We could not have found a more perfect place for comfort and exceptional location.”
The only noise came from native bird life and the occasional far off boat engine. Really is a beautiful place overlooking the water. With all modern comforts as well.

The property
An idyllic setting and backdrop are offering a little slice of paradise on your escape to Waiheke Island. CrossTrees Chalet is the perfect Waiheke accommodation for a weekend getaway, mini-break, or to celebrate a special occasion. The chalet is a well-presented and completely self-contained holiday spot, filled with quality furnishings and breathtaking sea views that flood in through the large windows and bi-fold glass doors. Designed and built so guests could experience this beautiful and peaceful part of the island, CrossTrees Chalet is named with a love of the ocean in mind. 'Crosstrees' are the beams at the top of the mast of large sailing ships - the place with the best view. As part of that 'top of the world' feeling, Crosstrees guests look over the native regenerating forest (protected by a conservation covenant), and out to the glistening blue waters surrounding the island. CrossTrees is situated at the end of Te Whau Point, a beautiful peninsula in the more populated western end of Waiheke Island. Te Whau Peninsula is known for amazing views to the northern part of the island, south over Tamaki Strait, and back towards Auckland City. Enjoy a swim at high tide, explore the rock pools at low tide, follow the coastal walkway to Kuakarau Bay Forest Reserve, or follow the walking route known as the Te Whau Loop. The Countdown supermarket is a short drive away, as are several of the island's best-known vineyard restaurants, including Tantalus Estate, Wild Estate, Stonyridge Vineyard, and Te Motu Vineyard. Nearby, The Heke offers a brewery and distillery for those who would like a break from the vineyards. Experience olive tasting at Rangihoua Estate, or explore Whakanewa Regional Park and visit the endangered dotterels in a natural setting. For a picture-perfect holiday that is sure to beg you back again, CrossTrees is ready to host your stay!
