Shannon “Thanks for an amazing summer!”
We filled it with family, friends & food and Queenie was the perfect base for us and the kids. Having the park next door meant we could watch the kids while enjoying drinks on the deck. BBQs every day and lots of games of darts! Beds were comfy and place was clean. Husband especially pleased with the water pressure of the shower and wanted to take it home! Highly recommend for anyone wanting a laid-back and chill vibe within walking distance of the beach, cafes & park.

Quin “The home was great we've stayed here before and will stay again.”
The management was disappointing though, the lock box code we where provided with was wrong. It wouldn't open the lock box. After phoning bachcare we waiting over an hour locked out of the house. I called again and was given the new code which worked right away, very poor follow up and frustrating to have been waiting outside for over an hour.
- Quin, October 2023Nadine “Lovely home, perfect for our short stay bit unfortunately the main bedroom was very dusty.”
It exasperated my allergies and I now have a horrible cough. Also, as it's getting colder, I pulled an extra duvet inner out from the wardrobe to find it heavily stained and smelt as though it had never been aired or sunned.
- Nadine, May 2023Thank you for your feedback Nadine and we will address this with our on-the-ground team. We are delighted that you enjoyed your stay at this wonderful property and look forward to welcoming you back. Bachcare
Martin “Great place and location - perfect for our needs for that weekend.”
- Martin, October 2022Dave “A very basic house of the 70s era.”
The house requires a good through clean and maintenance My expectations were higher comparable to the fees paid Would not recommend to family or friends
- Dave, September 2022So sorry to hear that on this occasion your expectations were not met and we will address the cleaning as we do set a high standard. Bachcare
Lynda “We absolutely loved lots about the property.”
We did have to come and go alot as we were down for a family funeral. What a amazing stock of books, games and the fire we were SO excited about, though we didn't get the chance to enjoy most of it as the house became a pit stop. Our only complaints/ suggestions to improve were that ... 1. We had a asthmatic staying Friday -Tuesday, in the Queen room where they had a pretty severe attack (medical costs became huge) and their eyes started to run non-stop and they had a headache for the duration of their stay..only on the last evening in the house we realised that the top of the wardrobes which is a large area were covered in thick dust and cobwebs. Enough that it needs to be cleaned by a non asthmatic and professionally, it's a really high cleaning fee we pay for this house so was surprised at the level of clean. Their also wasn't heating in this room, which was needed. 2. The queen in the bunk room was tucked in a nook and was not accessible to the person who required to use it as their knee injury/age didn't allowed them to crawl up the bed as required and for the person who could they said the bed made noises everytime they moved.also access to a plug to charge the phone was hard.also a clear door ment we had to hang something over one side to have some privacy when getting dressed. 3. The mattresses were pretty uncomfortable and we all required more blankets. 4. We were unaware there was no microwave ...It was a pain without one. 5. For the woman staying there was no appropriate place to plug in a hair dryer (only a shaver plug in the bathroom) and have access to a mirror which we required, so we had to dry our hair in the kitchen. 6. Both plugs in the kitchen could do with double plugs in them to be able to use all the appliances while making breakfast etc 7. While we absolutely adored the retro crockery/cups, it was a real pain not having a decent sized cup to enjoy your coffee in and the only one that was a decent sized had a nasty chip in it. 8. The vacuum barley sucked/worked 9. Not one of the outdoor lights worked...this was really annoying as we arrived and spent nights unloading or early morning departing where a light really was required.we also couldn't use the deck at night like we hoped. 10. And lastly there was no booklet or instructions to let us know where to find things..like the Wi-Fi password initially, what to do with the rubbish when we're finished (although they explained recycling very well) or the expectations around where to leave the dirty bedding/towels when departing...that may be really helpful for someone in the future.

Lots of space, plenty of sports equipment for the garden, a great fire and plenty of heaters to keep everyone cosy and awesome location next to the reserve with wetlands, park and playground + only 8 minutes walk to the beach. Loved sitting on the day bed looking out over Kapti Island. I cant wait for our next stay at Queenie.

The property
Heading to Waikanae beach and looking for that great Kiwi bach vibe in a prime family-friendly location? Look no further than Queenie! The first thing you’ll notice about Queenie is the warm homely feel and the two sun-drenched living spaces offering a space for everyone to relax. Put your feet up on the couch under the huge windows and get lost in a good book, or switch on the TV and catch up on your favourite show. An open fire keeps things cosy on those mid-year getaways, and in summer open up the windows and let the cool coastal breeze in. Two bedrooms here at Queenie comfortably sleep up to six guests, and you’re also welcome to bring along an extra mattress for the kids to camp out in the living room. A full bathroom with a tub is waiting for you to pour a glass of wine and soak at the end of the day, and thanks to an additional shower and toilet, no-one needs to disturb you! A well-equipped eat-in kitchen provides everything you need to self-cater your holiday, or head out on to the outdoor entertaining deck and spark up the BBQ. The huge lawn provides the perfect spot to stage a game of backyard cricket, and from the deck you’ve got a great line of sight to the neighbouring Victor Weggery Reserve. The lock-up shed at the back of the carport is an ideal spot for you to store your bikes and beach equipment, and there’s even a washing machine in there for those longer getaways. As well as having Victor Weggery Reserve with its adventure playground on your doorstep, the Waimea Lagoon Wildlife Refuge is also just a short walk away. Waikanae Beach is only 10 minutes on foot from Queenie, and jump in the car for five minutes and you'll find a well stocked Four Square Store. You’ve worked hard for your beach break, so why not let Queenie make you feel like royalty!
All guests should take extra care when accessing the deck and its steps. Adults should always supervise young children as there are no barriers or handrails to prevent falls.
