Ron “Lovely old bach in pretty good condition.”
Well-equipped, comfortable, right on beach and near excellent small brew pub with family-friendly bistro next door. Spent time deep-cleaning on day of arrival so we could enjoy place fully and this was acknowledged by Bachcare. Would stay again for sure.

Anna “The bathroom had a gross black line around the edge of the tile, there were still empty beer bottles (one filled with cigarette butts) on the upstairs balcony, there was barely any toilet paper, not enough beds had been made up and we had to source bedding from elsewhere because what we found in the drawers had stains on it and there was a dirty cotton bud on the floor.”
Will not be recommending.
- Anna, March 2023Thank you for your feedback Anna and we are so very sorry that on this occasion we did not deliver to our usual high standard. We will be addressing this with the team. We hope you are able to give us another chance. Bachcare
Andrea “Lovely family bach.”
Location was amazing - right on the beach with access through the dunes. Outdoor fire was cosy, and plenty of wood for fuel. 400m to grab a coffee from the cafe . Great stay
- Andrea, January 2023Susan “The viewing deck above ground floor is a great feature to see the sea.”
A safe yard with outdoor living and access onto the beach. The sleepout was handy to have for some additional beds. The place has a unique style. I would recommend staying there. Constructive feedback to help the owners would be that the place is checked before new people come in. The fridge had 3 items/containers of which 2 the food had started to rot. To unlock the sleep out door took was initially difficult to get into but we got there. The sleepout felt cluttered with items ie basket of shoes, bean bag that beans spilt out of, change table & other things.
- Susan, January 2023Dianne “True kiwi bach suitably quirky and excellently located.”
Beach just a climb over the sand dunes away. However getting down on to the beach is a real scramble due to erosion. Disappointed to find toilet unflushed when we arrived, fireplace full of ash, and we wondered what exactly the steep cleaning charge was for.
- Dianne, August 2022Heather “Awesome little house, only thing is it need curtains on the patio doors through the winter.”
- Heather, August 2022Renesh “Pros Cosy bach, proximity to beach was great Love the fire, kept us warm and cosy.”
Beds very comfortable and we all had a good sleep Cons - Kitchen is small and considering it is major thoroughfare between main entrance and rest of house did make it rather cramped - Bathroom is rather small and cramped and being close to front door meant it was often a lot colder at this end of the house - House was probably not ready to move in at listed 3pm check in time. We got there are 3.45pm and saw a couple still at the house picking up rubbish and finishing the cleanup. We assume they were the cleaners rather than the previous guest
- Renesh, July 2022Thank you for taking the time to provide this feedback and we are so very pleased to hear there were so many positives to your stay. Bachcare
Samantha “This is a great place to stay as a young family, with its fully fenced property, back gate straight out to the beach, and plenty of toys and books to keep little ones entertained.”
The beds and couches were comfy for us adults too, and it was easy to relax on the sunny deck in one of the recliners.
- Samantha, February 2022Rob “Kia ora. A lovely, clean and tidy holiday bach.”

Walking out the back gate and over the dunes to the beach was such a treat, and the lookout verandah (sunset bar!) was lovely when it was getting hot in the courtyard. We loved our stay and family time and will be back!
