Raymond “The Boathouse - Akaroa has a wonderful location, nestled in the centre of the main street.”
The views from the circular window over the harbour are stunning, and the layout of the rooms is welcoming and cosy. Arriving on the first afternoon we put the kettle on for a cup of tea, looking forward to sitting and relaxing after exploring the village. We were disappointed to discover just two tea bags and not a drop of milk to be found, long life, or otherwise. (A first for us in over 50 years of travelling!?) For the cost we were paying per night that seemed a bit stingy. Perhaps that detail was left to the cleaners, who, it seemed didn't have enough time to properly clean, what is, actually a small area to keep clean. Crumbs on the little table from previous visitors isn't on! There were a few maintenance issues as well. The hot water tap in the bathroom sink wasn't working, a portable heating fan was supplied because the one installed in the bathroom wasn't working. A couple of issues for Bachcare, or the owners to look into, hopefully sooner, rather than later.

Reasonably well equipped although we would have expected some other amenities at the price (eg coffee pods, shower gel etc). Pillows were very thin so you may want to consider bringing your own if you like them a bit thicker.

This compact little home has everything a couple would need for a lovely holiday - we parked the car and walked everywhere- the design of the round window with a beautiful view of the harbour was exactly in keeping with the name “The Boathouse” - we would hope to stay there again if we chose to return to Akaroa a most delightful holiday destination

Our linen service will provide all sheets, pillowcases, towels, bath mats, and tea towels for your stay. We’ll also make up the beds for you prior to arrival and strip them down after your departure. Pillows and duvets are provided at the property.
The property
