I do think the charges for linen use and cleaning, given the size of the property were disproportionately high - is it a BachCare standard charge? Kitchen is very well equipped and the beds very comfortable - although there was no linen on the spare single bed in the main bedroom even though we had indicated we were bringing an infant (who is not yet needing a cot). How do you book without taking the linen option?

Cute Bach in great location very near beach. Doesn't look like any exterior maintenance has been done in the 2 years since our last stay. Peeling paint, putty falling out of windows, nails coming up through the deck (hard on feet). BBQ grill too unclean to use. Interior clean and reasonably well stocked. Just needs owner to do some maintenance.

There has been very little maintenance. The cleaning was disappointing - bathroom smelled like vomit, bedrooms floor unclean (although we did move a bed to make space for our portacot). Location great.

It was such a shame we had a lot of rain on our stay, we would like to come back to experience a sunny visit. There is a roof leak in the bedroom which I left and indication note on the wall, with the heavy rain, water was going down the wall. Cleaning was good but they missed the toilet and we found left items under the bed hence a bed move to clean would be good An apology to the cleaners we did the recycling but realised too late we hadn’t tied off the rubbish. Thanks for a restful stay and look forward to a return visit

This may have been in the description, but if it was I missed it. Also: French doors were sticking and difficult to open. The en suite shower drained very slowly and may need some attention. Finally, the sole heater was barely adequate for a sizable room in winter not helped by lack of curtains over 2x French doors. Positives: proximity to beach and shops nice kitchen, large TV, potentially lack of WiFi (stand corrected on this). Regards Simon.

I have today spoken with Ross and yesterday sent a message but never heard back so that is why I contacted Bachcare on the 0800 phone number. I emphasize there is nothing wrong with Daisy Cottage. We accept it for what it is but one expects a level of cleanliness that was not evident this visit.

There is a bed in the hallway which is either propped on the wall and is a fall hazard (completely unsafe for children), or you lie it flat and it blocks the front door. We opted for the linen which was stained and dirty. The house was also dirty on arrival with used razors, makeup smears, dirty dishes etc. We informed batchcare but had to clean it ourselves as it was over a long weekend. Overall the house is tired.

One of the single beds is in the hallway and the bed goes across the main door, which makes locking up the house difficult (have to prop the bed up on the wall or move it around). Great outdoor shower. Lots of mozzies due to all the large trees and bushes around the property so bring mozzie repellant to plug in at night time.. Close to the beach, but no beach views. Old caravan on site too...and outside a little run down (the photos make it look better than it is). Lots of parking and flat area for boats.

Only metres from the water, had everything you needed, including bbq, full kitchen, bathrooms etc. The outdoor furniture is great, and makes for a bach where you would want to stay outside all the time. Close to food spots and local shops too. Only thing would be that, the showers may be a little too small for tall members of your family or friend group.

You can hear the ocean from your bedroom along with the tuis and crickets. I would definitely stay here again and miss it already!

This place has a lot of character and is in the perfect location. The property managers were also very helpful. We arrived late on the Friday so they made sure the house was warm and ready for our arrival. Would highly recommend staying here :-)

The property
Daisy Cottage is a 2 bedroom Hahei bach in a fantastic location... The original Kiwi bach, Daisy Cottage is a delightfully presented 1940's cottage situated virtually on the beach front, in the middle of the bay! This Hahei bach is a mere 5 minute walk from the shops and restaurants of Hahei, and sleeps up to 6 with 1 queen bed in Bedroom 1, a queen and a single in Bedroom 2 and 1 single bed in the hallway. There is plenty of outside space at this Hahei accommodation, all on the flat, including a generous deck with table and chairs... Plus, there is a BBQ provided to complete your iconic kiwi summer! The open-plan kitchen, dining and living area has french doors opening directly on to the deck, as does one of the bedrooms. There are 2 shower rooms both with basin and toilet - one is an ensuite to one of the bedrooms and the other located externally to the side of the house. There is an additional outdoor warm shower. This Hahei holiday accommodation is compact, very user friendly and in an amazing location... This is the original Kiwi Bach!
Note for Boat Parking: The driveway entrance is narrow, therefore competent reversing skills are required.
