Anne “Nice and close to town and the lake.”
Enjoyed having our own space.
Enjoyed having our own space.
- Anne, November 2024 -
David “A wonderful traditional batch literally over the road from the lake.”
A short walk into town. Great facilities and a lovely covered terrace for the BBQ - handy when it rained! Our second time in Te Anau and definitely our favourite place to stay.
- David, January 2024Christina “We loved the location.”
We could walk to everything. The kitchen was well appointed and the beds were comfortable. The house was nice and clean. It was nice to have use of the wood stove as well.
- Christina, October 2023Cherie “Really beautiful spot and home, the stay was amazing, cozy and warm!”
We were excited to have a BBQ seeing as the weather permitted, however the BBQ needs replacing as its quite rusted, so would perhaps not advertise. Other than that, I really couldn't complain!
- Cherie, September 2022Jo “Lovely little house to stay at and just across the road from the lake, warm with the fire and very comfortable beds.”
Would definitively stay again.
- Jo, June 2022Sam “Great property.”
Loved the style of home. Gorgeous section with established trees and it just felt secluded and private but handy to everything. Shops only 5 minute walk, if that. House was warm, comfortable, well equipped. The outdoor area was great, as was the carport. Comfortable furniture in the house and a lot of thought has gone into everything to make this a comfortable stay. Really enjoyed our time here.
- Sam, March 2022Laurie “This is a charming, comfortable welcoming bach, minutes walk from the centre of Te Anau and the tour boat departure wharves yet quiet and private.”
Everything you need for a comfortable stay is provided. Would and hope to return in the winter to enjoy the fire place and covered outside dining area. .A tastefully presented bach with all the comforts of home. Many thanks.
- Laurie, February 2022Phil “Great location and very clean, average bach, shower was poor with little pressure but water was hot, there were rats or a possum in the roof, the heat pump was not great, getting to woodpile meant walking through black mould.”
probaby over-priced and there will be better value places out there.
- Phil, August 2021Thank you for your review Phil. We're glad to hear you enjoyed the great location of Hop, Skip and Jump to the Lake! There is a large supply of firewood in the basket on the front step that is available for guest use. We are working with the team on the ground to look into the issues you have raised and have put measures in place to ensure future guests are not impacted. We hope you enjoyed your stay in Te Anau! Maire “I would stay at a bach care home any day”
- Maire, May 2021Heather “Great location right opposite the lake front but back from the road so very peaceful.”
Walking distance to information centres and shops/supermarket. Plenty to do in the area e.g. walks, biking, swimming in the lake, visiting the bird sanctuary and glow worm caves. House was well equipped and very comfortable.
- Heather, January 2021Joanne “A very tidy, stylish and clean holiday home.”
Great location and a much loved feel about it.
- Joanne, January 2021Eunice “Lovely property close to boat ramp and town with space for the boat.”

- Graham, January 2020Gayle “Cute and quaint self contained house.”
Perfect for two couples or romantic get away. Location was central to town and lake and for day trips exploring the Fiordlands. Felt cozy and comfortable.
- Gayle, December 2019Gretchen “The location was excellent.”
Jucy Cruze bus pick 2 doors down, Kepler Water Taxi 3 minutes towards town, town 5 minutes away. Quiet. It was nice to have a washing machine and lots of space to spread out. Having our own kitchen was also nice for eating in each meal. Highly recommend. Access to house required locating a phone box to call manager, if you don’t have cell service you’ll need the spark phone boxes at the roundabout.
- Gretchen, October 2019Joanne “If you looking for a warm lovely home this place is it .”
