“The house is run down.”
There are cobwebs everywhere. Old, sticky dust lies on the surfaces. The kitchen appeared clean. However, the surfaces weren't clean. The placemats are dirty. The upholstery of the chairs and sofas is broken and dirty. The carpet in the living room is dirty. The curtains are dirty, and the balcony and the railing are dirty and dilapidated. There's life behind the furniture in the bedroom.

Our linen service will provide all sheets, pillowcases, towels, bath mats, and tea towels for your stay. We’ll also make up the beds for you prior to arrival and strip them down after your departure. Pillows and duvets are provided at the property.

The living room, dining room and master bedroom all open out to the views, the sundeck and then down onto the waterfront lawn area. Sleeping up to 6 guests, Matai Cottage is a great place to settle into with your family or group offering all the essentials including a BBQ for those classic kiwi summer dinners fresh off the grill and private access down to the water. Take some time out to get away from it all or use this as a base to do some local exploring. Matai Cottage is positioned on Farewell Spit, which offers wonderful walks from the cliffs to Wharariki Beach and the walks in Kaharangi National Park. A delightful Golden Bay escape awaits at Matai Cottage!
As the property has unfenced access to the beach, adults should closely supervise young children while outside to ensure they are safe around water.
