“The Location was great however Furniture was dated, the beds were infested with bed bugs which left my three children and husband covered in bites.”

This resulted in a trip to the urgent medical centre to be prescribed steroids, antihistamine and antiseptic cream. We had to spend half a day whilst on Holiday going back and forth communicating with Bachcare and seeking medical help. Highly annoyed and will not be staying again.

“This older home is in a spot on in a great location for the top of Golden Bay although the home in our opinion is requiring some updates and more through cleaning to justify the price.”

Didn't appear that the home had been vacuumed upon arrival and was lacking a few creature comforts like a clean couch, coffee table and microwave. Also the home was very poorly marked and had to drive into someone elses drive guessing which home and where it was located (this could be fixed just by a heads up in the registration).

“Great location for fishing Golden Bay with direct beach access.”

The beds need updating but overall the bach was very tidy and comfortable. On-site recycling and garbage was a plus!

“Lovely location, a little hard to find but this adds to the privacy.”

Please beware that there is no TV, stereo or other item that can be used to entertain little children while cooking dinner, the drop off from the deck is also something to watch for if you are taking young children to this location. The rooms are spacious as is the lounge. There is easy access to the beach for walks, it could do with a more substantial heating source than the fan heater that is provided if you are intending to hire this in winter.

“The property is in a lovely, peaceful location with amazing views.”

We would have loved an outdoor seating area to make the most of this while having a BBQ. Unfortunately during the cold evenings there was no heat pump to keep warm. Also no reception or WiFi which is not ideal when you aren't expecting it. We do also suggest a microwave to be added to the kitchen for convenience. The beds were terrible and desperately need upgrading. The lounge could also do with more furnishings. Overall it was decent accommodation for a short stay.

This Pakawau Beach bach includes laid back open plan living that leads onto the deck... Set yourself up in the sun, relax, and enjoy a BBQ with a view to the beach! There are 3 bedrooms at this Golden Bay accommodation. Bedroom 1 opens onto the deck and is fitted with a queen bed, bedroom 2 is fitted with 2 single beds, and bedroom 3 is fitted with a single bed plus a double bunk set. Set against the backdrop of the spectacular Kahurangi National Park, this casual bach is the perfect base to explore the rugged splendour of Golden Bay or simply to sit back and relax. You are moments from the beach with plenty of room for the kids to play in the garden and for the rainy days... a table tennis table!
