Sandra “The location of the house is great.”
And the house itself is actually beautiful. However, it is poorly maintained (leaky windows, mould on the windows, rusty furnishings, etc.). There were always ants in the kitchen and mice traps in the house. In addition, the house was not clean when we arrived. For all these reasons, we consider the price to be unreasonable.

Annabel “The house is lovely and very well equipped for a family holiday.”
We liked it very much. The one drawback is the lack of shade - something that would allow sitting outside on a sunny afternoon would be a great advantage.
- Annabel, January 2023Dave “Loved this property, nice and peaceful and right next to the beach.”
Had everything we needed to help make our stay while working away from home enjoyable. Would definitely recommend staying here and will definitely be back again. Thank you.
- Dave, October 2022Lorraine “Perfect stay for our family.”
Plenty of room for the adults and children. Access to beach was perfect. Warm house. Facilities perfect. Enjoyed stay. Thank you.
- Lorraine, August 2022Chris “Awesome spot.”
Great house.
- Chris, July 2022Kyle “Great place, had Ann issue with the gas fire and owner sorted immediately!”

Gaylene “We are a family of one couple, 3 adults, a 4 yr old and 7 month old (7 total) and the sleeping arrangements were challenging.”
The sofa does not convert into a bed and is uncomfortable, luckily we had an air bed; although oil heaters are provided the room with bunks is cold and if carpeted would overcome this; gas heater in the lounge is amazing but we weren’t able to increase temperature; views of sea and kapiti island is the drawcard and one could enjoy on a hot summers day; well equipped kitchen and laundry facilities and big bonus the doll house and toys which entertained my grand daughter; The clothes line is in shade so I was having to use dryer more; Overall, we made the most of what we had and the property catered sufficiently.
- Gaylene, May 2022Thank you for your review, Gaylene! We're glad to hear you were happy with this property's amazing views and the amenities offered. The sofa bed in the children's room isn't meant to be used by guests, as it doesn't convert, that is correct. The sofa bed advertised on the listing is the foldout sofa in the lounge. We do have one heater per room to ensure these are all sufficiently heated, and we appreciate your suggestion regarding carpeting; it will be passed along to the property owners. Thank you for your comments regarding the clothesline. Its position was chosen to ensure it was in a sufficiently sunny spot without interrupting the views, and we're glad you could use the available dryer for clothes that couldn't get dried quickly enough on the clothes line at this time of the year. Gary “Location is good if your a boatie, however exterior of house needed maintenance and the lawns hadn't been mowed.”
The house was extremely hot in the peak of summer due to the lack of shade out the front/deck and there wasnt even a umbrella. The kitchen had a Ant problem which meant our food was constantly being attacked every night as there was no pantry. We expected more from a house in this price range for a large group.
- Gary, January 2022Marissa “We absolutely loved our stay, the house was extremely clean and had everything we needed.”
You can't get much of a better location either!
- Marissa, December 2021Melody “There was a very cold snap when we were scheduled to arrive and we were pleased to find the heaters on in the bedrooms and the fire on in the living area.”
The house in nice with a wonderful view, the sunsets seem to last hours. This was our first time visiting the area and it was a pleasant surprise, the beach side of town was quant and we arrived right on Matariki were there was a spectacular light festival. Only slight negative is that one night there was someone hooning up and down the beach on their motorbike which was loud but I am a very light sleeper and it didn’t prevent me from falling back to sleep. I only mention this because I saw a review about a lot of traffic on the beach. I saw a van driving slowly up the beach on the first day and the motorbike on the second night but that was it. Didn’t bother me.
- Melody, July 2021Alena “Excellent location, older house but lovely and spacious, great for a family getaway.”
Rather cold at night, but heaters provided. I would happily return, but would opt for a summertime stay next time
- Alena, May 2021Maria “(Same as above)”
- Maria, April 2021Leigh “Excellent house and location .”

- Leigh, April 2021Glenis “Great spot handy to local shops beach and park.”
Plenty of room for the family.
- Glenis, February 2021Deb “We had a wonderful stay, great accomodation, weather and beach, couldn’t fault it”
- Deb, September 2020Mike “We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in your Bachcare home.”
So many positive aspects, such as location to the Paraparaumu Beach Shopping Centre which accommodated all our needs from cafes, to the local 4-square along with the best fish and chips we've ever had at the McLean Street Fish Supply! The house was sunny, private and quiet with the most beautiful view of the sea and Kapiti Island. A private walkway down to the beach and what a beach - just fantastic for big, long walks. The weather was great but evenings got a little cold but the gas heater was another fantastic aspect to the house heating the open area downstairs very quickly. Sky TV, Netflix and lots of hot water with great water pressure in the shower - what more could you ask for. Thanks again. We would definitely come back for a break away!
- Mike, June 2020Rod “Christine was a wonderful manager.”
Top marks to her.
- Rod, March 2020Frederic “We loved this house.”
It was on the beachfront and within a nice easy stroll down to the cafes and shops. It is lovely and sunny and warm. Would definitely stay there again.
- Frederic, February 2020Ruvini “Such a gorgeous view from this property and walking distance to local eateries.”
But I think it's a little pricey for what you get. The property is a little tired and in need of some TLC. More importantly, I think we paid a premium for the absolute beach front location. However, we made no use of the beach front location as we had to share the beach with boaties launching their vessels a few hundred metres down the road and using the beach as a carpark, dirt bikes and teens cruising the beach in their cars. We might have spent a maximum of 10 minutes on the beach in front of the property as being on the beach was like trying to have a picnic in the middle of a busy supermarket carpark! These latter points are obviously no fault of the owners but perhaps the nightly rate needs to reflect the location. We weren't aware that cars were allowed on this beach so we are unlikely to return to Paraparaumu beach.
- Ruvini, February 2020Katrina “A great house for family to gather in - perfect location, good space for parking and playing outside and for eating together or getting time-out on the balcony/in the rumpus room when inside.”
Highly recommend.
- Katrina, February 2020Kate “Roomy house with good facilities; close to beach and great views of Kapiti Island.”
