We appreciated the space and amenities and beauty of our surroundings. What a great find - a jewel of a place. The fireplace was a wonderful bonus.

- Scott, March 2024Amanda “This a superb lakeside property to stay in.”
We were so fortunate to be able to experience such an iconic bach in a gorgeous setting, with the Tuis feeding in the kowhais. Thank you for sharing your lovely home with us.
- Amanda, October 2023Daniel “Property was private, quiet and a perfect Bach.”
Fireplace worked well and plenty of room for everyone. It did need airing out for a couple of hours and the lower oven element needs replacing but would definitely stay there again.
- Daniel, July 2023We are glad you had a good break at our Bach. Thank you for the heads up about the oven element , we have booked a replacement. I hope it didnt inconvenience you Bachcare
Michaela “The house and location were great for our group of 8.”
Comfortable and spacious, beaut lake veiws, cosy fire and lots of wood. Unfortunately we had no hot water for the first night and most of the next day, which was a huge inconvenience. One of the beds was not made up with sheets, and there was a dead lightbulb in the bathroom with no spares. A great place, but disappointing for the cost.
- Michaela, July 2023We are so very sorry that the turning on of the hot water was missed for your arrival and glad we were able to contact you privately to remedy this immediately. We are delighted that you enjoyed your weekend at this fabulous, spacious home with incredible views and hope to welcome you back very soon! Bachcare
Rachel “We have been staying here on and off (when it has been available) for a number of years now, we love the location the view, fireplace and the Tuis.”
- Rachel, June 2023Welcome back! It has been quite the season for the Tuis. Last trip I counted 21 in one tree. Bachcare

Johannes “Great property.”
Excellent location. The only problem was that bachcare gave us the incorrect access code for getting the key out of the again another code that did not work We were only able to access the property at 8 pm , waiting at the property from 3 pm to get the key to get into the back and out of the rain. The owner not to blame. They presented a fab property.I will definitely book it again. Bachcare caused the inconvenience.
- Johannes, December 2022Cynthia “This is a gorgeous, family property in a stunning location.”

- Emoji, July 2022Lou “Great traditional family Bach.”
Comfortable and warm beds. The fire was fantastic and was needed for cooler days beside the lake but the key was the beautiful lake view right outside and the lovely lake front walks.
- Lou, July 2022Amy “Beautiful property, loved the deck with views to the lake, great front garden for games, and very well equipped.”
We will be back!

- Louise, October 2021Richard “Hi Richard Thank you for the photos.”
I notified the owner and the rooms have been fumigated prior to the arrival of the next guests. Unfortunately this issue is not identifiable until it appears. Bed bugs have the reputation of being the worlds best hike hikers. Once again apologies to your kids for the discomfort. Regards Tim Everybody good luck..
- Richard, July 2021We were so sorry to hear of your recent experience during your stay at Kuratau Classic. We are very vigilant in trying to prevent any type of bugs in our homes and we have again fumigated the property after your stay. Thank you for letting us know and we hope you enjoyed your time in Kuratau. Bachcare

The property
Peaceful, lakeside, a retro beauty.. welcome to Kuratau Classic! Just a moments walk from the lake is where you'll find this Kuratau holiday home. Loved and cared for by its owners for 50+ years, every piece of stylish retro furniture and decoration has a story to tell and highlights the character of the home. Enjoy your morning coffee and some fresh air on the decking looking out over the lake. Or snuggle up to a movie and a glass of wine in front of the fireplace. Upstairs in the main house, are the first two bedrooms sleeping 4 guests, the remaining 2 bedrooms are found downstairs for another 5 guests. Also downstairs a second bathroom and kitchenette are provided, making this an ideal setup for the whole family to holiday together comfortably. Head to the lake just a hop, skip, and a jump from your door and take the Kayak or dingy for a spin. Plus, there are a number of great walking and cycle trails in the area to enjoy. Taupo City or Whakapapa ski field are both just under an hour away, or Turangi is even closer just under half an hour's drive. Put your feet up and relax, this Kuratau Classic has you covered!
As there are fixed bench seats on a section of the deck, adults should closely supervise young children in this area to ensure they do not climb the deck barrier
As the property has unfenced access to the lake, adults should closely supervise young children while outside to ensure they are safe around water.
"Please note a bond may be charged at certain times of the year. One of our team members will contact you if this is required for your booking."About the location
On the opposite side of the lake to Taupo, Kuratau is a small peaceful town with plenty of outdoor activities on offer. Spend the day out on the water with kayaks, boats and water skis, or go fly fishing for rainbow trout in the Tongariro River. Being further away from the bustle of Taupo, it's also an ideal location for a relaxing holiday to get away from it all. All of our Kuratau holiday homes are pre-inspected prior to your arrival and are ready for instant online booking.
