Pauline “Wonderful place to stay ty.”
- Pauline, October 2024 -
Margot “When we arrived we couldn't get into the property as the lockbox code provided was incorrect.”
We were stranded outside in the freezing cold with our 5 year old at 10:00pm and they couldn’t get hold of the property manager to let us in. We were on the phone for over an hour. We then had to find a room in a hotel to stay the night, until we were then let in, the next the morning. It has been one week since this happened, and after multiple emails and numerous phone calls, they are still not responding, refunding me, or giving me any clarity in how they will resolve this issue. The blatant disregard to their customers is appalling.
- Margot, September 2024our sincere apologies Margot as this was not the welcome or service Bachcare wanted to provide for you at this fabulous property. We are glad we've since been able to resolve this matter for you and so sorry that there was a delay. Bachcare
Anne “We loved staying here.”
The location is great - loved being so close to the lake walkway and the bach is very comfortable. We would definitely stay here again.
- Anne, September 2024Heather “We were very happy with the Bach, it was lovely and a great position for our purposes.”
Definitely would stay again.
- Heather, August 2024Paula “Compact and comfortable and has everything you need.”
It was lovely sitting on the front porch looking out at the lake. Only 1 block from the lake front walkway was a huge bonus along with being able to take our dogs. We were very happy to see the back of the section is actually fenced, which wasn't in the listing detail. Would definitely stay again.
- Paula, April 2024Ally “Second time staying at this property & love it.”
Great views, close to lake. Cozy & comfy . Would recommend staying here.
- Ally, January 2024Thank you so much for this great feedback Ally and we are delighted you enjoyed your stay at this fabulous bach by the lake. You will be pleased to know that the owner is working on improvements to make this property even more fabulous - we look forward to welcoming you back soon to benefit from this! Bachcare
Catherine “Loved our stay in your lovely 'Kiwi Bach'.”
Great location, had everything we needed and contact person very nice and communicative. All we would suggest would be a water filter on the house so not drinking and showering in chlorine. Otherwise, the perfect place to relax and enjoy the lake. Thank you.
- Catherine, December 2023We are delighted you enjoyed your stay at this fabulous bach. Although the tap water is perfectly safe to drink, thank you for suggesting adding a filtered water system, which the owner is considering adding later on in the year. The bathroom has recently also been upgraded. We look forward to welcoming you back! Bachcare
Ally “We did have an ant issue and there was no fly spray”
- Ally, February 2023Thank you for your feedback Ally, we're sorry to hear about the ant issue during your stay. This isn't what we had hoped for you and we will be following up with the local manager to ensure this has been remedied so that future guests are not impacted. Bachcare
Fleur “This was our 4th stay in the property- can’t beat the location and old-school Bach vibe.”
Love the improved shower and laundry facilities (and the WiFi!!).
- Fleur, January 2023Shelley “Lovely stay.”
Property had everything we needed. It was a bit cold returning at night, however heaters were provided. Highly recommend if you’re looking for a minimalistic stay. We would definitely return here in Summer, very close to the lake. 5 minutes drive from the main town. Great location.
- Shelley, July 2022Lorena “Thanks so much for the extended stay at the J Bach - I’ve already submitted a comment, however I’ve been prompted again to share my experience at the Bach.”
Again, I’ve stepped into a magic space with warmth and comforts that contain a feeling of being ‘home. Thank you for sharing and making this beautiful place available - I am originally born and raised in Taupo and have returned for a short pause to visit. I will re book whenever I am visiting and if the Bach is available. Much thanks LD
- Lorena, May 2022Lorena “The J Bach has been a magical space to rest and revive, many thanks for the cleanliness and order the Bach is found in.”
I could stay here forever- cheers LD
- Lorena, April 2022Tania “Great location with lake views.”
Traditional kiwi bach. Comfortable and practical. Only negative was the very poor water pressure in the shower.
- Tania, January 2022Petrina “A quiet and peaceful location, so close to the lake and walking/cycle path into town.”
- Petrina, January 2022Chris “A quintessential kiwi bach with an amazing view.”
We loved our stay here and would definitely book again
- Chris, November 2021Sheryl “A genuine kiwi bach with awesome lake views.”
Have been here a number of times now and still enjoy staying here.
- Sheryl, November 2021Catherine “This is a beautiful location to stay in.”
Thankyou!
- Catherine, October 2021Sonja “Fun old skool bach with lovely views of the lake from the lounge and bedroom.”
Perfect location for strolling the lake and the Taupo 5k Parkrun! Had all we needed and got to enjoy it with the dogs - thanks again for a great stay!
- Sonja, August 2021Jan “This is a cute, retro bach.”
The bed was firm and the shower hot... if a little underpowered. Good basic amenities... beats a motel any day for a welcoming environment.
- Jan, March 2021Jo “Lovely location and wonderful views.”
Located in nicest part of Taupo. It is a cute very basic retro bach but I thought it is very overpriced for what it is.
- Jo, February 2021Kate “Great lake view and spacious grass area.”
Clean and tidy with true kiwi bach feel. Walking distance to store, fish n chip shop and the two mile sailing club which I would highly recommend for pizzas and drinks right by the lake. Shower pressure could be better but it’s a bach so overall great house and would definitely stay again.
- Kate, February 2021Peter “Always love staying at the J Bach.”
It's simple and cute in a great location.
- Peter, January 2021Sheryl “Great stay.”
Love the traditional Bach feel. This is our third time we have stayed here and will be back for sure.
- Sheryl, January 2021Angela “This bach lives up to expectation.”
But the views are even better in person just amazing. In hot weather it was nice to be able to sit out front and have a BBQ with the amazing views in the forefront. This bach had everything we needed. The shower did let it down a bit for us there was not a nice even pressure just a trickle. If you can overlook that then this is a well priced bach with the best views in this price range.
- Angela, November 2020Thank you for your very valuable feedback. We are so happy to hear that you enjoyed the property and the view, we agree, its pretty great! We have passed along your feedback about the shower and the owner has someone coming to look at fixing it. We hope to welcome you back in the future. Bachcare

- Karen, November 2020JUSTINE “Beaut views!”
Great location - cute as Bach for small family.
- JUSTINE, October 2020Louisa “A lovely cosy kiwi Bach.”
Has everything you need and an amazing view. The shower needs an upgrade but otherwise we loved it.
- Louisa, August 2020Louise “This was a great basic Bach so close to the lakeside trail and cosy/ well-equipped for family get togethers.”
- Louise, July 2020Russell “Great views and very special to be able have our dog with us.”
Is an older Batch and some aspects is lacking.
- Russell, March 2020Thanks for your review Russell and glad you enjoyed the lake views. We're sorry The J Bach didn't meet your expectations on this occasion. We've passed on your valuable feedback to the property owner for review. We hope to welcome you back in the future! Bachcare

- Sheryl, February 2019Jenny “The J-Bach at Rainbow Point provided the perfect getaway location for us.”
We loved the original retro character of the bach and location so close to the lake. Great that we could take the family pooch with us well.
- Jenny, January 2019Naniseni “Awesome Bach, VERY close to the lake, I would definitely recommend it to anyone.”
- Naniseni, January 2019Tracey “Very comfortable place to stay.”
, fabulous view., close to shop for milk n bread
- Tracey, December 2018Tracey “A great timeless Bach with awesome NZ Bach character.”
The bed was very comfortable. Everything you need to have a holiday provided incl plates and cooking accessories. The view is spectacular! A very short walk to the lake makes a very fun Bach to rent. Has a very homey welcoming vibe and although a small house, the yard is plenty big enough to share with family and great for the dog. The only downfall was no laundry but I don't think this is a biggie!! I would definitely stay here again.
- Tracey, November 2018Hi Tracey, thank you for your wonderful review! We are thrilled to hear you enjoyed so many aspects of the property. We do aim to have our listings as accurate as possible and do note that there is no washing machine or dryer available at this property. Bachcare
Andrea “Very cute quaint cottage, so close to lake, hubby loved the complimentary items left in fridge :)”
- Andrea, November 2018Sara “Great location, private, lovely view.”
Authentic old-style NZ bach.
- Sara, October 2018Lisa “If you're wanting a no-fuss, kiwi Bach experience, then The J Bach is the one!”
We loved the simplicity of this good old kiwi Bach. It had everything we needed and was surprisingly roomy inside. There's heaps of sleeping space for large tribes and plenty of room to pitch tents. But most of all.....the location and view are fantastic! In summertime, I can imagine spending the majority of your time outside enjoying the view of the lake and the proximity of lake. So close! But the best thing about this Bach, is being able to take your pet!! And I must mention that dealing with Susan was ridiculously easy! She was really friendly and just wanted us to have a lovely stay in The J Bach. She definitely went the extra mile for us and we appreciated it! Thank you Susan!
- Lisa, August 2018Lynette “This property was clean and well equipped.”
