Jools “Perfect place for 2 couples or 2 families that want their own space.”
Lovely Holiday home - had everything we needed
Lovely Holiday home - had everything we needed

Amelia “We loved this property!”
Great views, great space with upstairs and downstairs, incredibly well set up and stocked plus glow worms in the creek beside the bach. We walked down to the water which was about 5 mins but drove if we were going around to the further away beach. Great space for a big group with upstairs and downstairs units separate and each with own bathrooms and kitchens. The external stairs that some have mentioned are fine and good, wide stairs (one person was in a moon boot and managed these steps no problem), they're not the steep metal ones in the photos. Lovely hearing the native birds. Bachcare were very efficient. Check in and out very easy and the place was very clean and tidy. A perfect kiwi bach! Thank you! Loved it - we will definitely book again!
- Amelia, January 2024Susan “We had a wonderful stay and a holiday to remember.”
The house is in a wonderful position with beautiful views and great access to the beach, jetties and walks. It was comfortable, clean and well equipped with plenty of parking for cars and the boat. There is no internal access between upstairs and downstairs. While this wasn't a problem for us, it may be useful for others to know in advance. Thanks for a great time.
- Susan, December 2023Abbie “We loved our stay here and was fantastic for a few families to stay together so the kids could have cousin time together.”
Thanks!
- Abbie, April 2023Olivia “We had a wonderful stay and consider ourselves so lucky to have been able to book at such late notice.”
The glow worms are amazing and the beach etc. is so close. We really enjoyed our stay, thank you
- Olivia, February 2023Wendy “Your home is awesome.”
Absolutely beautiful view. Everything you need for a holiday down to salt and pepper.
- Wendy, January 2023Sue “We had an awesome weekend”
- Sue, December 2022Malcolm “The top story spacious lounge and deck are the main features that make this house OK.”
Good views from the deck. Kitchen well supplied. Downstairs was very damp and musty to the point where some of the bedding was damp that had been left close to the window. It took about 3 days to start to air out - no heat pump downstairs to dehumidify only one old oil heater. Not good if you have asthma or allegies. upstairs is OK. Also quite a bit of animal fur I suspect. There were cockroaches if the kitchen so cleanliness needs to be improved. It isn't stated that access between the two floors is extenal, which is rather inconvenient, especially if it is raining. At the right price this place would be acceptable but a bit poorly maintained for the price. Not as tidy as the photos suggest.
- Malcolm, April 2022Lou “Beyond our expectations throughly enjoyed our stay thank you”
- Lou, April 2022Brenda “Fabulous home for a holiday with extended family.”
Beautiful setting and views. Everything we needed for a week of fun in the Sounds!
- Brenda, January 2022Bianca “Great location, home is set up great for multiple families.”
House could be cleaner considering you have to pay a cleaning fee but have passed feedback onto Bachcare. No rubbish collection up there however refuse stations at Havelock or Picton easy to get into and open 7 days. Stairs from top and bottom floors are external which worked great for us however may not be suitable for other families. All in all great house with great amenities was just the cleanliness that let us down, when we pay good money to stay there plus a cleaning fee we expected better.
- Bianca, December 2021Anne-Marie “Wonderful Place - marvellous for a large group with multiple living areas so people can have quiet time if needed.”
Lovely stroll to the beach. Every little detail was considered in the home. We would love to come back some time.
- Anne-Marie, October 2021Mark “Awesome views from the balcony up the Sound, upstairs is a real sun trap :) Tui & Wood Pigeon are abundant around the house which is tucked down a shared driveway.”
Everything you need is provided. Great beds and a large kitchen make for a great stay
- Mark, April 2021Jodianne “Overall the property was what we were expecting and it suited our large group, ...”
Overall the property was what we were expecting and it suited our large group, the house had everything we needed to feel at home the only down fall was the driveway, there's no room for parking a vehicle towing a trailer and had to back d
- Jodianne, April 2021Julia “This is a fantastic property to stay at, especially for our two families with children who enjoyed having their own space in the downstairs area.”
Lovely to sit on the deck and look at the view. The kids loved seeing the glowworms up the creek at the back of the property. So handy to be able to take our dog with us as well. We would definitely stay at this property again.
- Julia, April 2021Leonie “This is a lovely property, very well set up and well serviced.”
We are repeat customers because we love it
- Leonie, January 2021Angela “Great property for large or duel families.”
Very tidy and great amenities. If you have a boat, maybe check it access has been cleared enough so you can park up at the home without damaging it on the over grown trees and shrubs ( otherwise, be happy and prepared to park down the road) Overall though, a great place to stay!
- Angela, November 2020Jan “This 4-bedroom, 2-bathroom holiday house with a large living area and in a bush-setting was a great option for our group of 7 who were looking for a place to kick-back and relax after we'd finished walking the Queen Charlotte walkway.”
Initially there was a hitch getting in. The key was not where we were told it would be - a lockbox would fix this easily. Another easy fix would be to replace all the blown light-bulbs in the house. There is intermittent internet connection - better for those in our group on Vodafone. The Spark users in our group walked up to the mailbox or down to the beach. We saw it as a chance to disconnect from our everyday lives and enjoy the scenery. The only hitch was when we wanted to contact the local manager to find out where the key was and couldn't get through to her mobile. The house has a bathroom and two bedrooms upstairs (2x kingsize beds, 1x single bed) and a bathroom and two bedrooms downstairs (1x kingsize bed, 1x double & a set of bunks - a bit crammed in but it works ok). Upstairs has a good feel to it. The decor is dated but the spectacular views through the bush to the sea more than makes up for it and the deck is a good size for plenty of people to lounge around and enjoy the view over a morning coffee or end of day wine. Both kitchens are well-equipped. We took up the option of having the linen (well worth it) and made good use of the washing machine and clothes line on the deck. It's a short walk from the end of the Queen Charlotte track to Serene Sounds (well-named), a 5 minute walk to the beach, a 25 minute drive on a winding road to Picton and about the same to Havelock. The Queen Charlotte tavern (just near the turnoff to Havelock) has great coffee and home-baking too. We'd definitely return to Serene Sounds.
