Yuan Yuan “This is a lovely spacious bach, very clean, lots of room for the kids to run around.”
However, there are a few suggestions we would like to make based on the premium price you are charging: 1) the bach could use some basic toiletries like shampoo and shower gel and a hair dryer, noted there was hand soap; 2) there was no heating provided, no heaters anywhere (the owner claimed they were in the cupboards but they were all locked), and the heatpump was shut down and out of guests' access, we ended up calling Bachcare because it was too cold at night and they sent in a property ...
However, there are a few suggestions we would like to make based on the premium price you are charging: 1) the bach could use some basic toiletries like shampoo and shower gel and a hair dryer, noted there was hand soap; 2) there was no heating provided, no heaters anywhere (the owner claimed they were in the cupboards but they were all locked), and the heatpump was shut down and out of guests' access, we ended up calling Bachcare because it was too cold at night and they sent in a property manager the next morning and got the owner's permission to go into the garage to turn the heatpump on the switchboard, shouldn't heating be available by default?! 3) there should be a printed instruction on how to operate the facilities in the bach, it took us ages to try to find the switch for the stove and oven, had to call Bachcare at the end because we failed to find it, it was located at kids' eye level inside the pantry miles away from the stove and oven; 4) the internet speed is like dialup literally, and there was no reception in any of the bedrooms, could use a wifi extender? It's pretty cheap; 5) the oil in the kitchen was expired Sep 2023, the coffee was quite stale, not sure how long it's been sitting there, luckily we brought our own coffee. We appreciate Bachcare's prompt customer service.
- Yuan Yuan, April 2024Hello Yaun, thank you for your feedback. The owner does not supply shampoo and showergel as it has been taken by guests in the past. The heatpump is most definitely included and free to use by guests - instructions are in the manual pack at the property. We take onboard your comments around wifi - unfortunately as the property is rural connection speeds are limited. I have passed on comment about the coffee and oil, we would like to apologise if this was not up to standard. We hope to see you again soon! Bachcare

Ruki “A fabulous view, up a long steep drive way.”
The place was clean, however there were lots of spider webs and spiders especially in the room with two single beds. The water smelt really bad especially in the shower. We had to boil our water everyday for drinking. Little things like a cheese grater, ice cube tray would have been handy. There were plenty of wine glasses and coffee cups but not enough water glasses for 8 people.
- Ruki, December 2022We appreciate your review Ruki and are pleased that you enjoyed the fabulous view. The septic tank has been fixed and we can confirm that some of the improvements, suggested have been made. We are looking forward to hosting you again in the near future. Bachcare
Tamsin “Loved it. Had everything we needed and was perfect for our small gathering.”
- Tamsin, October 2022Monisha “A perfect stay.”
Best location, views were amazing, loved the drive up to the bach, house was immaculate and the best part was how secluded it was
- Monisha, September 2022David “Lovely property with wonderful views.”
More spacious than we expected and well equipped. We thought the heat pump was not working properly in the lounge. The bedrooms were very warm but that heat was not reflected in the lounge. More instructions were needed on using the facilities, for example it took 20 minutes to find the isolation switch to switch on the oven. We would highly recommend this property.
- David, August 2022Wilbert Francis “What a beautiful property.”
Quiet, spacious, and clean. The photos really don't do justice to this property. Some letdowns, heatpump wasn't functional so it was a bit cold during the night. Same as what everyone mentioned in the reviews, there's barely any cooking essentials, only salt. Good thing we read the reviews and brought our whole pantry, lol. The most let down was the coffee. Only instant and plunger coffee were available but both of them were long expired. We had to drive to town every morning just to get our coffee.
- Wilbert Francis, April 2022Vicky “Great property, was perfect for our group of 6 ladies, we had the sofa bed and the camp bed made up so we had a bed each.”
It was spacious and super clean. Nice showers and beds. We would definitely book here again.
- Vicky, March 2022Graham “This was a great house in a lovely location but it was let down by the standard of some of the basic items, i.”
E. beds and bedding. But overall we had a great stay there, and there’s plenty of room to spread out.
- Graham, January 2021Sarah “Great stay with a great view and super secluded, Steve was super friendly and helpful on our stay”
- Sarah, December 2020Michelle “We had a really good time at the place.”
Plenty of space for a family or group of friends. There were a couple of things I just wanted to point out though, first of all, we wanted to cook our food so it was a little disappointing when there were hardly any cooking essentials. No cooking oil or pepper provided, only salt. There was also no milk in the fridge. No rice cooker, I had to message Susan (the hotel manager) and asked if we can borrow one, she was really nice to lend us one and sorted it out the next day. Also, there were no shampoo and conditioner as well in the bathroom, only hand wash. It would be great if these were mentioned beforehand especially for a big group like us, we could've prepared better. The wifi connection was really slow. Our group was barely connected but still slow. I don't know if because the place is so secluded. Overall, the place was amazing. So secluded and has a very beautiful view. Great to do some star gazing at night as well! Would love to stay here again next time if the things I mentioned above would hopefully improve.
- Michelle, July 2020Thank you for your feedback Michelle, we are glad you enjoyed your stay. Although most basic cooking utensils are supplied items such as rice cookers may not be available at all properties. Basic items such as tea, coffee, salt and pepper should be available and we apologise they were not on this occasion. Fresh food items are not supplied. Your Holiday Manager will be able to answer specific questions about a property before you arrive.

Kate “The house was a fantastic size, perfect for two families to stay.”
Great proximity to shops etc. Well laid out and appointed. Could have had a few little touches that would have made it even better such as tea making provisions, maybe a little oil for the bbq, salt and pepper. Tank water was a bit pongy. But overall a lovely stay.
- Kate, February 2020Thanks for your review Kate. Sorry we missed those kitchen essentials we'll make sure tea, coffee, salt and pepper are all there for next time. We've passed on your feedback about the tank to the property owner to check. Hope to see you again in the future. Bachcare
Catherine “A very well presented home with quality fittings in a piece of paradise.”
Suitable for a family holiday with plenty of space for everyone. A huge grassy area for playing outdoor games.
- Catherine, December 2019Martin “Very comfortable property.”
Warm and well equipped. Very peaceful location and stunning views.
- Martin, September 2019David “We really enjoyed our stay here.”
Very private and quiet but only a 5 minute drive to Matakana. The house was immaculate and the property manager had thoughtfully put the heat on so the house was toasty warm when we arrived. We can't wait to come back.
- David, July 2019Cristy “We had a fabulous, relaxing stay here - the property is a high standard and had great ducted heating system, so we were nice and warm for a winter weekend.”
The views are stunning and lots of room for the kids to run around on the lawns right around the house. Its a lovely drive through stunning countryside and great views all around - Highly recommend!
- Cristy, June 2019Olivia “Beautiful house!”
!! Very tidy and everything provided for. The living, kitchen and dining were all in a big open space which was great for our family. Outdoor space was gorgeous, felt secluded eventhough we were only 5 minutes from the village. Host was friendly and helpful when i had a question about the rubbish. Will absolutely come to stay again :)
- Olivia, May 2019Vaughan “Great house with great privacy”
- Vaughan, March 2019Reena “The house was in excellent condition, very clean and tidy.”
However the air con had an error message from the first time we used it on the first day. We were able to reset it but stopped working. The water is run on a pump and we noticed a very unpleasant odour to it n the shower on the 2nd day. It did not feel safe to drink, so we were boiling water. We notified the property manager, who was responsive, but unable to get anybody to come have a look at it.
- Reena, January 2019Thank you for your review, Reena! We're glad to hear that you enjoyed your stay and are sorry to hear about the few hiccups you had, which our local Holiday Manager did her best to assist with. We understand that the aircon is actually a DVS system, which runs different to a heat pump, and this seems to have been the misunderstanding that led to it seeming like it wasn't working. We've clarified this on the listing. We've looked into the odour from the shower and this is now resolved as well. We can confirm the water at this property is safe to drink. Bachcare
Joanne “We have stayed at this property twice and love it.”
Plenty of space for 2 families, although need to bring an extra camp bed as only 1 single bed in 3rd bedroom. Beautiful views all around & very private. Large flat lawn. High spec, new house in excellent clean condition. Location is great as long as you are prepared to drive a short way to village and beaches rather than walk. Driveway very long & very steep.
- Joanne, December 2018Nicolette “Lovely house, gorgeous property, nice & warm, spotlessly clean and had everything we needed.”
Perfect weekend break with grandparents up from Christchurch. Property Manager was excellent, really friendly & instructions easy to follow.
