- Elizabeth, December 2023Kathleen “My family and friends are very happy with the place.”
It was very warm and have adequate space to accommodate big families like ours. We like how cozy the place is and make us feel we're at home. It is also close to the town and the skii fields. We will definitely recommend it to our friends.
- Kathleen, July 2023Monique “Rivendell was a beautiful location and had great facilities.”
More than enough beds and bathrooms. We loved our stay here. The fire was fab and heated the large house amazingly. Loved the wood shed!! We had wood shed envy. We appreciated the heat pump was on for our arrival. Little things that helped, cooking oil, spices, washing powder available and appreciated. The only thing missing that would make this house outstanding is a hot tub to sit in and look at Mt Ruapahu and relax the muscles after the outdoor adventures in National Park.
- Monique, July 2023Jason “Lovely, quiet location.”
Beautiful warm house. This house would be great for 3 couples.

- Hari shankar, December 2020Anna “Thank you for amazing stay!”
Such a beautiful house, perfect for 2-3 families to stay. Everyone had their own bathroom and space. It took a little bit time to warm up, but after that it was nice and warm even at night. There is fireplace that heated pretty much the whole house and heaters in each room. The grounds were beautiful and kids absolutely loved alpacas. Omega was helpful and always ready to answer our questions. We’ll be back next year
- Anna, July 2020Elizabeth “The house was exactly as advertised and perfect for our needs.”

The alpacas were pretty cool too!
- Shelley, February 2019Suzanne “A true slice of paradise surrounded by native bush.”
Feeding the alpacas was a highlight for our kids
- Suzanne, December 2018James “I cannot rate Rivendell highly enough!”
The property was very well maintained, well insulated, well stocked, a quick hop to Ohakune, and secluded enough to feel like you are in Tolkien's Rivendell. With more than enough sleeping space, our group couldn't even fill all of the rooms, yet the house felt cozy and homey - particularly with the use of the fireplace, which also had more than enough extra firewood than you could ever dream of using! The alpacas on the property were a blast to feed and hang out with, and the sunrise/ set were absolutely stunning from the second floor balcony. For a weekend getaway with an unbeatable view, or a spot close to the national park for all your outdoor activities, Rivendell will have a bit of everything for everyone!
