Phillip “What an awesome base for our weekend adventures.”
Plenty of space for everyone, kids loved the upstairs space as it allowed them to hang out away from the adults. The spa was appreciated on the colder days. Thanks for an amazing stay!

We had very bad exprience with this place,it was very cold, the heaters on the wall are no good they dont produce any heat, the heater in one of the bedrroms dosent work, there is a fire place but the place is big it dosent heat the whole house,we had to sleep with or close on by the fire on the couch and once we a sleep the fire died,so hardly had any sleep, The stove has not much power it takes loong time to cook eggs
- Burim, August 2022Thank you for your feedback and our sincere apologies that you were cold as the fireplace is usually such an efficient heat source that the heaters are not required. Bachcare
LIANNE “Firstly, we mistakenly left a (flat) queen sheet (blue colour) on the first bedroom bed downstairs.”
No-one has contacted us to arrange its return. Secondly; a. The oven had a filthy pan inside that we didn't know was there until we had turned the oven on and it had heated up, filling the home with thick, acrid, choking smoke. The oven was in any event very dirty and the stove top not much better. Each time we used it the home filled with the same aforementioned smoke and we were forced to open the windows and doors when it was extremely cold outside. Also the toaster top was full of old crumbs, not been wiped for ages. b. The second bedroom downstairs had a broken heater so could not be warmed up, and it was so freezing cold it could not be used. The owner/cleaner/Bachcare knew about this because it was the only heater that was found unplugged and not switched on and warming the room when we arrived. c. The spa is very old and 3 headrests were missing. The lower wooden step broke and a wooden slat with large rusted nails that fell from it could have caused significant injury had the rungs collapsed inwards. The mechanism used to remove and replace the spa cover/lid was also broken and hubby almost injured his back one day when trying to remove it so we could spa. d. The spa service person arrived to clean the spa a day after our arrival. e. The spa is not private and anyone in the area or driving past can and does see what you're doing while using it. f. One of two of the outdoor chairs (foldable) had broken plastic slats, hubby sat on it and got his bottom pinched. g. Showers (x 2) could not deliver a decent and proper wash as the roses are installed far too low to the ground. Hair washing for any normal sized adult is impossible, so, had very dirty hair all round by the time we checked out after staying 5 nights. h. Batteries in the downstairs t.v. remote were flat. Will probably not used Bachcare again. Sent them numerous e-mails about some of the above issues and received NO reply. Being ignored and having your valid concerns dismissed is the height of rudeness especially when you've paid a premium for accommodation that isn't top class.
- LIANNE, July 2022Thank you so much for taking the time to review your stay with us. We do apologise for the broken items which the owner is addressing and the cleaning issues are now resolved. Bachcare
Rhys “Great spot for the summer too, not just the winter.”
- Rhys, December 2021Logan “A fantastic place for a family to stay.”
The upstairs area presented a great space for kids to hang out away from the adults and the fire was awesome. Fantastic amenities, great communication with the property manager and the Spa was well used - awesome end to a days skiing. Would definitely recommend this place for people visiting Ohakune.

Comfy beds. We loved the spa pool and drying racks. Lots of games etc for kids.
- Jenine, September 2019megan “Great house with good location.”
Very very warm which is a must in winter. With the style of house, I would recommend earplugs if you are a light sleeper. Equipped with the essentials however we didn't have a lot of toilet so we just got some on the second day. No biggy. Lots of friendly neighbors around so It felt safe too.
- megan, August 2019Thanks for your feedback. Yes the beds are quite close together so earplugs maybe a good idea! Sorry that you ran out of amenities before the end of your stay. Bachcare
