Suzie “The house had a good layout, was warm, good location, coffee machine and had great water pressure.”
Things to improve would be the beds (not nice firm, but more springs-pressing-into-your-back firm), lots of minor maintenance issues (taps falling off, curtains coming off, broken sofa, heatpump making weird noises, BBQ was dirty with no gas - became a bit of a running joke), could do with a deep clean not just the rental-wipe down. Would have expected a bit more for the price we paid.

Charindu “Thoroughly enjoyed our stay with ample space for our large family.”
The place was very cozy, clean, and tidy. The spa pool and views were delightful. Its proximity to town and, most importantly, Carrot Park was just next door. We'll definitely come back.
- Charindu, November 2023Davey “I'm happy for the maintenance issues to be withheld and the rest published.”
Being directly across the road from the carrot park, within walking distance to the town centre and a huge, open area in front of the property, plus a trampoline, this is a great place for family and friends to stay together. There are cutleries and plates for children too! There are some maintenance issues that need addressing though: 1. the heat pump will shut down and stop blowing warm air shortly after turning on. It won't turn off completely, but just stop working. This could be due to a dirty/clogged filter. 2. The bathroom door is not lockable, the push-to-lock doesn't work 3. Suggest a holder to be installed in the shower box, and more than one towel rail installed. 4. Some of the remote controls don't have batteries in them, this could be intentional. 5. We found a bar of solidified dishwashing powder in the dishwasher when we arrived, and the powder was caked a couple of times during our stay. I'd suggest providing a few dishwashing capsules/tablets instead of powders. 6. There are some baking trays that don't fit the oven anyway and are just taking up room in the drawer, no big deal for us. 7. The big timber dining table is VERY sticky. A piece of tablecloth or re-staining would be useful.
- Davey, September 2023Niyati “Loved the place, little difficult to find but its a very well maintained and clean property”
- Niyati, August 2023Nicole “Absolutely amazing accommodation.”
Amazing location, all amenities, heat pump heats all house for when it's super cold outside. Water pressure a guest fav in our group with super hot water. Were prepared for hard beds from other reviews, they were firm but not as bad as expected, no complaints from any of our guests. Using the key in the door takes a bit to unlock and lock, might need a look at but overall cant fault this place. Had a great stay and would be back here anytime. Thank you for the stay.
- Nicole, July 2023Brooke “We loved the place, cosy & warm when we arrived.”
Had everything we needed. My only suggestion would be to add mattress toppers because the beds were quite uncomfortable however we already knew that based on the reviews. A shade cover out the front would be nice for when it rains so you can still sit outside but not a big deal. Only 1 other thing was the shower head in the bathroom near the 2 rooms with the queen bed rooms turns immediately facing out the shower door once turned on and sprayed all over the floor so you have to stand in the shower & turn it on but it still leaked out the door. I think because the pressure was good maybe. The other shower was fine. Overall great place to stay, perfect location especially with the park across the road. Kids loved the play room & could easy shut the door & block out their noises. Thank you for accommodating us.
- Brooke, May 2023Anita “Loved our stay here.”
Perfect for family of 9. Two bedrooms down one end to house Grandparents and Parents, leaving the other end for the young adults. Great communal area with large dining table. Wifi good too. Close to town. Just two negative points. 1. Beds were very hard. 2. Fan in the bathroom left of the kitchen was extremely noisy.
- Anita, April 2023Hannah “We absolutely loved staying here and on our road trip this was everyone’s favourite place to stay!”
The lock on the bathroom next door to the bunk room didn’t seem to work and a few people said their beds were bumpy- I don’t know if this was the electric blanket maybe? But overall a fantastic stay, loved the spa pool, loved the games room, the table was the only one big enough to hold all nine of us out of everywhere we stayed- can’t wait to come back one day.
- Hannah, December 2022Anna “Overall we had a lovely time thank you!”
We were there over Christmas so went for a walk through the Carrot park to collect sticks to make a tree - looked very festive decorated with decorations and lights we brought from home. We utilized already existing screws in the walls to hang decorations (and even used the little 'house' looking wall hangings to make a little houses for the reindeer ornaments we had :)). House was laid out nicely for people to chill or chat in the well stocked kitchen (incl. good sharp knives, nespesso coffee machine with milk frother). Field at the front of house was perfect for games of tag, touch rugby, slip and slide, sunbathing and bunny watching (who would keep to themselves in the farthest corner from the house)
- Anna, December 2022Mel “The house was amazing .”
The spa and deck excellent for after our big walk . Only thing is the beds are like lying on wood . They need to have toppers or something on top of mattress as very hard and uncomfortable especially back bedroom on left side by bathroom . But we loved the place
- Mel, November 2022Amber “Beds! Mattresses are too hard.”
Top bunk (singles) had sand in it and the double bed on the bottom of the other bunk bed's duvet cover had a dirty mark on it. This was yuk and disappointing... Everything else was great. Kids loved having their own gaming/TV room. Great location and we loved the spa.
- Amber, October 2022Stephanie “Fabulous property!”
Ash was very nice and helpful and the house was perfect for our 2 families. Only problem is the beds... really hard mattresses... not firm, actually hard. If they fix this we would definitely return!
- Stephanie, August 2022Bethany “We loved the house.”
There was plenty of room for the 8 of us and lovely and warm. We had slight trouble with the heat pump but Ash spent time checking it out and giving it a clean. There was not enough toilet paper and no dishwashing liquid but Ash brought some in for us. She was great and could answer our questions. The main problem we had was that all the beds were so hard. That would be the only thing that would prevent us staying there again. If we had known the size of the lawn we would have brought some balls etc. for the children to play outdoors. It was great to have the Adventure park so close. The dining table was very sticky. We tried wiping it down, but everything we put on it it stuck, even our sleeves. I was wondering if it had been used to wax ski equipment on. It would have been helpful to have some coffee capsules inside the box. (It was empty).
- Bethany, July 2022Wendy “A great house with plenty of room.”
A fantastic spa pool big enough for the 4 of us. The beds are very firm so if that isn't an issue would 100 % recommend.
- Wendy, April 2022Anna “We LOVED this place and will be back to stay again (with the kids next time).”
The house is a great size with everything you need. The Foosball Table was an absolute hit with our whole group and the spa is very spacious. We loved the view of the carrot and that we could see the mountain when it decided to show itself. Thank you so much for letting us stay.
- Anna, March 2022Christine “We rented the house for a weekend away with our adult children to bike the Old Coach Trail and this accommodation was perfect.”
We loved the big spa pool to soak in under the stars at the end of our day riding.
- Christine, February 2022Denise “Great house for two couples or families with bedrooms and bathrooms at each end and the living in the middle.”
Well appointed, but there is a lack of information about how to use the appliances. It is also slightly difficult to find the house as the driveway is not on the street that the address refers to.
- Denise, October 2021Kerry “Lovely and warm and very homely”
- Kerry, August 2021Ryan “A great family accomodation choice!”
Loved that the house had a play room with toys, board games and PlayStation for kids. Loved the layout of the house. One end of the house had two bedrooms and a bathroom. And the other end had 2 bedrooms and a bathroom which was good for 2 families to be comfortable. Spacious living area and dining room and kitchen. It was nice coming back from the mountain and having a nice hot spa at the end of the day. Would definitely recommend this for a good family holiday!!!
- Ryan, August 2021Raewyn “Had an amazing time away, beautiful home to stay in while we were in Ohakune, place has a great amount of room for a family of 6 adults / space to play / sit and relax and eat together.”
Clean and tidy
- Raewyn, June 2021Edna “Everything we required in a home available to accomodate our stay for the long weekend!”
- Edna, June 2021Trish “Lovely accommodation with plenty of room for our group of 9.”
Many enjoyed the spa pool. Our group arrived at different times and each of us found the place difficult to find. I suggest a large sign at the gate and also at the beginning of the street (which is off the main road). A second key would also be helpful. Lovely modern kitchen and having 2 bathrooms added extra convenience. We enjoyed the 2 restaurants we visited and the walking tracks both closeby and into the hills. Climbed to the viaduct - all 9 of us! Awesome morning out. Visited the Tangiwai memorial - emotional. Thank you Ohakune.
- Trish, November 2020Kimberley “A great place to stay”
- Kimberley, September 2020Samantha “Fabulous place to stay for a group”
- Samantha, July 2020Minggang “Great location.”
Right next to the big carrot! Very spacious. Our kids were very happy playing within the house.
- Minggang, July 2020Keith “Great place well set out Good location”
- Keith, June 2020Susan “Amazing place, great location.”
We were three families meeting up for a long weekend. House was really well appointed and had everything we needed. Minor issue with the water in the hot tub on the first night but Jo (Bachcare Manager) sortes it out ASAP. Will definitely be back again!

Julian “As a group of grandparents, parents and two small children the six of us had a wonderful stay.”
This is a spacious property that allows two families independent separate bedroom/bathroom areas at either end of the house, with shared open plan living dining cooking and playroom area. The Panasonic Smart TV is a great size and the internet and Sky Sports TV were much appreciated. The Hot Tub was excellent for relaxing after a good walk at the end of the day. The games room with toys for kids and the tabletop football was a welcome and valued bonus. The location is superb - you can walk into Ohakune along one of two scenic footpaths -only 10min stroll away. The property is basically next door to the impressive, ever evolving Carrot Park which has mountain bike play area, outdoor fitness suite, kids play grounds, river paddling and plenty of new and very tasteful scenic native planting. So it's great for the kids. Recommended - it worked really well for us!
- Julian, January 2020Claire “Great location and so close to town.”
The house was big enough for the 9 of us and there was ample space. The house was spotless and clean on arrival, and the kids enjoyed the play room.
- Claire, December 2019Anna “Modern property, great amenities and walking distance to town.”
Spacious, clean and tidy.
- Anna, November 2019Debs “Modern house which is perfect for the whole family.”
Spa pool is a bonus. Football table was a hit with the kids. Sky and Netflix were great for the rugby and movies. Awesome kids park right across the road. A+ rating. We will definitely be returning.
- Debs, October 2019Tanya “A very warm house, in a great location.”
It was perfect for kids with the games room, spa at the property and the ohakune adventure playground directly across the driveway. A pretty walk through the bush to the ohakune township and the kitchen was well equipped for cooking. We will definitely be back.
- Tanya, August 2019Erina “Loved this bach!”
Modern & warm with electric blankets in every bed, heaters in every room & a heat pump. The Spa & Foosball table were great to have as well.
- Erina, August 2019Shelley “This new build holiday home in Ohakune was the perfect place to stay with my extended family.”
We arrived on the train (station is a 30min walk away, so organise transport prior to if arriving via train), there were 7 of us - including a 4 year old and an 80 year old and we had lots of space (the games room is amazing and great selection of toys) great kitchen facilities and enough bathroom space. The spa was an added bonus. Easy walking distance to the iconic Ohakune Carrot and Adventure playground and 5mins to town (restaurants, cafes, supermarket, ski & bike rental). All beds were very comfortable and had electric blankets so nice and cosy during the winter. They do disclose this - but the landscaping isn't quite finished, so could imagine that in the winter it may get a bit muddy? Something to also consider is there is currently (Jan 2019) no drying room or storage room if you have your own ski gear/ mountain bikes, but this may come in the next phase of development. I would happily recommend this holiday home as a great place to stay with friends and family.
- Shelley, January 2019Rebecca “Fantastic place to stay.”
Great spot and well set up for families with young kids. We did find the queen beds very firm. Great for lovers of hard beds a bit achy for the rest of us, although great having the spa there to soak it away.
- Rebecca, December 2018Roshani “Great tidy property with all the comforts and handy to the shops, children playground and ski field.”
- Roshani, September 2018Tim “Outstanding.”
Will definitely rent this place again.
- Tim, September 2018Tiffany “This is an outstanding property which is warm in a great location, has fabulous toys for the kids and is bog clean and airy.”
Highly recommend but be warned - wifi intermittent to non-existent.
- Tiffany, August 2018Thank you for your review. We are happy to let you know that since your stay a better Wifi service was installed to improve the connection at the property. Bachcare
Raewyn “Great house for 2 families - Large living area, massive table and kitchen worked well and bonus having 2 bathrooms.”
Functional, clean, modern.... just wished we could have spent more time relaxing around the house however skiing was too good! Note the best entrance is opposite the Ohakune carrot parking not the main road entrance which is quite muddy! No hesitation booking again.
