Jodi “Great place to stay so lovely and home like Fully recommend this place Easy and clear instructions”
- Jodi, August 2024 -
Brendon “This is a great property in a good location.”
It's is a few minutes away from Okahune itself.
- Brendon, January 2024Ashleigh “We booked both properties for a weekend to celebrate my husband's 40th.”
What fun we had. The properties were as described and clean and tidy. They were kid friendly and we loved the facilities. Would definitely stay here again.
- Ashleigh, June 2023Jj “Loved the stay.”
Great location. It would be a great place in the winter. Slightly too humid and hot with little air ventilation in summer, but still manageable. Will book again! Thank you for the great stay
- Jj, February 2023Ellen “Was a last minute booking for a mini summer getaway.”
Was totally worth it. Loved the accommodation and facilities. Having 2 sep bathrooms and 2 sep toilets was a game changer with my big family. The Spa was a hit with all, only thing would suggest is putting up a privacy screen on part of the deck to block neighbours on otherside of driveway seeing. I would recommend if going in summer take lots of fly spray and if you have those magnetic flyscreens to stick onto the inside of metal door frames, take them too so that the house can air and the mass blow flies stay out. Take back up games/activities that do not need wifi/internet, we lost wifi signal at house halfway thru our stay, was struggle in evenings to entertain kids as TV needed wifi, cell phone reception was poor, Vodafone was next to no signal and Spark was minimal. Highly recommend downloading various movies onto an ipad/tablet and taking a HDMI TV connection for it, as back up. Would definitely book this accommodation again along with the grey house so that more of the family can come away.
- Ellen, December 2022We are delighted that you and the family enjoyed The Yellow Straw House and thank you for your useful suggestions. We look forward to welcoming you and more of the family to enjoy both straw houses very soon. Bachcare
Shalini “The house is warm enough during winter time.”
Spa pool is a good option in the property. House is not clean enough and the duvet covers on the the beds are very old and ugly to use.
- Shalini, April 2022Hriday “Property is very warm, but lacked any cooling devices (fans, etc) so not ideal for a summer stay but can imagine it'll be great during the ski season.”
It's not in Ohakune but very close to it in a very quite village. Very peaceful stay minus the hot house in the middle of summer. Would recommend staying here during the winter only.
- Hriday, December 2021Jess “Amazing to stay in such a warm place so close to the mountain!”
I was super impressed with the straw bale insulation!! Great size and layout for an extended group.
- Jess, September 2021Nodalo “The house is very clean and warm.”
Our children were very comfortable.
- Nodalo, August 2021Gavin “Great place to stay with plenty of room for the four of us.”
Can accomadate two families easily with the two separate toilets and two separate shower room. Great laundry/mud room. Very close to Ohwakune, less than ten minutes if the rail road is taken.
- Gavin, July 2021Sue “One of the best places I have stayed.”
Outstrips other motels, hotels and other book-a-bach's. Would recommend this to everyone.
- Sue, June 2021Scott “My wife, kids and I loved it, was a huge place for 4 people, has a fireplace which we didn't need to use as it was very warm inside, would love to visit in winter time when its snowing!”
- Scott, April 2021Tim “Very easy place to stay with two toilets and two bathrooms everyone was ready on time.”
Warm house and great fire. Also a drying room which is great when skiing. Just out of Ohakune but close to the Mountain.
