“Had the best stay possible at this bach!”
Everything was super clean and all the necessary amenities (cups, plates etc) were there. Primo location and a superb view! Went with a group of friends and everyone enjoyed their stay - no complaints! Will definitely recommend to others.

Disappointed with cleanliness of the property on arrival the bathrooms and toilets had not been cleaned properly and the floors had not been properly vacuumed or mopped.

The bach is superbly placed for sea views and sun and was comfortable and well equipped. It is private and in a quiet area of Mangawhai Heads with good access to lagoon down an adjacent walkway and steps. Unfortunately our holiday was marred by a non functioning sewerage system when we arrived which though fixed meant our first day was disturbed by contractors and property manager coming and going. These things happen so we have no complaints but we were frustrated by the response from Bachcare and the owner when the sewerage system failed again the day before our departure with toilets threatening to overflow. We were not advised that it would be fixed urgently so were forced to leave a day early leaving the bach in an immaculate condition. The property manager and Bachcare were notified with full details that the bach was uninhabitable and we were entitled to a full refund. Despite being entitled to a full refund under the Fair Trade Act and Bach care's Terms and Condition stating that both the Bachcare booking contract and owner rental contract must abide by the Fair Trade Act I was repeatedly told any refund was at the owners discretion and was only initially refunded a partial payment before receiving a full refund after delays and repeated efforts on my behalf. The Fair Trade Act makes it illegal to mislead you and requires them to provide accurate information but when I asked Bachcare why they withheld a large part of my refund they did not respond.

- Kathryn, July 2022Kenneth “Unfortunately we found the place not very clean (kitchen drawers full of crumbs, dust on bedside tables) and fridge smelly, windows overlooking the view needed a good clean, microwave was inconveniently located in the laundry and the outside tiles were dangerously slimy and could have easily caused falls.”
One of the induction burners was also not working. Two of the bedrooms were well appointed but the third was not. For the price we paid, we did not think we got value and would appreciate bachcare considering some kind of refund. Thanks.

Our linen service will provide all sheets, pillowcases, towels, bath mats, and tea towels for your stay. We’ll also make up the beds for you prior to arrival and strip them down after your departure. Pillows and duvets are provided at the property.
The property
Taste of Paradise is a modern Mangawhai Heads holiday home with unlimited Wi-Fi and stunning views facing the Mangawhai Harbour. The bright and summery decor will welcome you in, with open plan living that flows out onto a secluded sun drenched deck. This is an ideal place for relaxing in the sun, taking in the stunning views, and enjoying outdoor meals. Situated on a hill, kick back and relax while overlooking the picturesque estuary, sand dunes, and out to Hen and Chick Islands. Sleeping up to 8 guests, this is a great option for a large family or combination of families. The master bedroom has a king sized bed and an ensuite, and the second bedroom has four single beds (2 separate and a bunk) and adjacent bathroom. Further accommodation is in the Sleep-Out, where there is a super king bed, which can be split into two single beds, plus a bathroom. There is room to park the boat, pitch your tent, or park your cars and you can even plug in your electric vehicle into the on-site Type 1 / J1772 6.6kW / 32 amp charger. Comfortable furnishings, access to Netflix and a fully equipped kitchen make this home fantastic for those who want laidback and easy living while they are on holiday. The beach is just a one-minute walk away. You are able to get to the surf beach in five minutes, great for those summer beach experiences! As sections of the deck either have fixed bench seats or no barrier, all guests should take extra to prevent falls. There is also a significant drop near the front path at this property. All guests should also take care in this area due to the risk of falls.
This house is on tank water so guests need to be conscious of water use throughout the summer.
Please be aware the sleepout at this property is accessed externally.
The super king bed in the sleepout can be split into two single beds if required. Please request when the booking is made.
3 bikes (adult size) and helmets are available for use, together with a kayak with lifejackets.
Please note there are 2 security cameras at this property, placed in the outdoor areas. These are on at all times for property security but are pointed outwards from the property and are for insurance purposes. Guests are not to tamper with the security cameras, and will be liable for any damage that occur if they do so.
