Rebekah “This property was such a disappointment.”
The owners had not tended the inside or the outside of the property. One of the doors on the deck does not lock (how we entered the property because of poor directions on how to reach the front door), two closets are missing doors, the dryer is not vented so clothes do not dry unless you open the door to the hallway and the outside window. The place is very old and dirty and so dank that we could not sleep in the secondary bedroom or the master bedroom (which was made by placing a piece of plywood across the living room wall - there were gaps between the wood and wall). The headboard in the master bedroom was not connected to the bed frame. Whenever you walked on the floor, the floor boards creaked so loudly that it woke the other guest up. This property should not be on the market unless it is upgraded and certainly should not cost so much. The cleaner/woman who came by to turn on the internet that had not been activated was pleasant. The TV had very limited channels and the cleaner/woman did not know how to activate it. It seemed like there was mold everywhere. We considered moving to a different location but were unable to manage a double expense for the near two week stay. In the end, we felt we were just taken advantage of. We are writing this so that others may avoid a similar experience.

Show stopping lake and mountain views. Lovely and cosy with the heat pump. Comfy beds. Beautiful outdoor deck for a BBQ and to take in the views. Cross the road, then an easy stroll via the lake path to Wanaka town. The washing machine overflowed - quick effective response from the Bachcare team. We had a lovely family holiday in Lakeside Escape.

Frances “My husband and I stayed here for two weeks in February, The location is ideal - an easy walk to town and an easy access to Lake Wanaka.”
We did many of the surrounding walks. Appreciated the washing machine and drying line. The bed was comfortable and the linens and towels of good quality. The house, though, is rustic and the garden overgrown. The structure groans as the wooden boards expand and contract. The kitchen is small and needs more equipment ( coffee maker). The stove did not work well. The bathroom is very basic. Faucets are hard to turn and water pressure poor. We thought the the property description was a bit misleading and were disappointed in the standard of accommodation given the tariff.

Great value for money - so good that there are still places affordable for average kiwi families. We don't need it to be slick and super flash with those high price tags like so many places in the area.

The property
Lakeside Escape is a 3 bedroom 1 bathroom Wanaka holiday bach. In a great location just metres from the lake this cosy bach is just the ticket for any family looking for their next lake getaway. Head out to the sundeck and take in the amazing views of Lake Wanaka. This bach is perfectly situated, no more than 30 metres from the lakefront, and with a BBQ equipped the sundeck will be a popular hangout during warmer months for hosting classic Kiwi BBQ's. The interior of the bach features open plan living with large french door that perfectly compliment the indoor-outdoor flow of the home. The bedrooms feature large floor to ceiling windows and with WiFi and Freeview there is plenty to keep you entertained year round. Stay indoors and chill out, or set out on adventure - you are just metres from the lake edge, while parks are within a 5 minute walk.
